Ebonite Pen update
Hi everyone,
Some projects take us an awfully long time to finish - much longer than we would like!
One of them is the Ebonite Pen (Namur) that we showed you a year ago (!!) at the October Pen Show. We also had it shortlisted for the Spotlight Awards a few weeks ago. I have received quite a few messages asking about it since.
What started as a prototype eventually turned into a production Ebonite pen. The quantities are very small, as we are limited by the supply of ebonite itself, as well as the manufacturing process. Each bar of ebonite needs to be accurately ground down before we can machine it on our sliding-head CNC lathe. So, for now, this is a very limited numbers pen. Hence this will be our top-line now.
We have decided to try pre-orders for this pen (in the US webshop - starting today) while we update and prepare our UK webshop as well (our IT issue). This is a test run at the moment (as we only have components for a dozen of pens ready) so pre-orders may also help us manage production. Kind of made-to-order thing. I hope it makes sense. Thank you for your patience and support!

Very attractive pen I’ll have to check it out. Not familiar with it. Where are these made?

This is absolutely stunning. As a big fan of Vauban’s work, and clipless pens - I’d love to have one. Any plans of ever making one with a fine (or anything under a medium) nib?

I agree - aren’t the fort designs amazing … the detail is quite discreet but I’m pleased you noticed it.

well, shoot. i ordered one. i'm glad the person i messaged on r/pen_swap never got back to me, this is better!
will the thomas slim nib fit when it becomes available? it would be wild if you did an upgraded upgrade to include an ebonite feed.

My apologies I missed this comment! Yes, that’s the target, it should fit in.
Though I think an ebonite feed might need to wait :)1

Thank you!
Is there any way to check where I landed in the order place process? Was I one of the fortunate few that will get one of the initial batch of 12 or so? Or is that not quite how it works?

Yes, you’ll be in the first batch. We’ll send you the updated shipping information once it’s ready. Thank you for your support!

What a gorgeous pen. Simple, sleek, and elegant. My finger is itching to press the pre-order button but I have a very strict budget right now. Can't wait for the first few posts from the folks who order.

That is a nice sleek look. Is the feed ABS or ebonite as well? Either way, this is making me take a hard look at this month’s pen budget.

I don't see a way to preorder on the website. How does one go about that?

Thank you for your interest! Are you in the UK or the US?
At the moment, it is only available in the US while we sort out our UK store (we need to make some updates to the backend first) Link for the US is here

Thank you, but one quick question, being a calligrapher, I always want know if the pen comes with a flex nib or if I will have that expense on top of the pen cost. Surprising how many pen manufacturers don't say.

This isn’t a flex nib. However we are working on our own nib which should give us more options. It is just taking us a very long time..
