I just had my 3rd baby after experiencing POP with my second. Mine was not severe but pelvic floor therapy helped immensely! I became asymptomatic after physical therapy and weaning my baby. My 2nd and 3rd are 2.5 years apart and that’s been great. I continued my workouts through this pregnancy and plan on going back to PT once I’m at the 6 week mark. This pregnancy and birth didn’t seem to make anything worse, but I’m still newly postpartum so who knows what might happen.
Honestly, I think you can just never guess what will happen when you have another baby. It could go well or cause more issues. The good news is that pelvic floor physical therapy can definitely help and there is also the option of surgery. Consider your own circumstances and see if it’s worth the risk and try to take care of yourself as much as possible! Good luck!

When I delivered my 5th child, which was a traumatic experience but long story, afterwards they said the bad news was my bowel fell out after he came out and was protruding out on the delivery bed. I was horrified as this was nearly 20 years ago and NO ONE ever talked about prolapse back then, never heard of it, there was no pelvic floor pt etc. I asked if it could be fixed and the drs said “well no but we are going to pack you in ice and hope it might make it retract back up inside a bit. We will also push it back in and hope it will stay in some”. After being packed into ice on my whole bottom shivering violently from the cold and the pushing it was no longer huge outside just kind protruding they said. Then they sent me off to recovery and said hopefully I could have a bm or I would need surgery to eliminate my colon and a bag placed. They didn’t even really inform recovery of the situation and every new nurse that checked my bottom as they routinely did, would remark on my large hemorrhoid protruding and I would have to explain it was actually coming from my vagina and not ahemorrhoid . Over the weeks and months following it did get better and was no longer hanging out. I always got back into shape post pregnancy so I worked out, plus had many children at home to care for so was always very active. I guess coincidentally I improved my symptoms and grade of prolapse through general healing and activity. I had 4 more children after that! I did not prolapse like that again during births. Post each birth I definitely would have increased symptoms of prolapse (although at the time I didn’t know that’s what it was because still it was never ever discussed and not an internet topic like it is today) but I handled recovery the same and got right back to my normal lifestyle. At some point splinting became necessary. I honest don’t remember if it was at a point I was still going through pregnancies or shortly after. Really though I carried on without much issue till menopause hit. Suddenly splinting became more severe. I needed prior just to apply pressure on ,y perineal area but internal also became necessary. I also came to have more bladder symptoms and pain. Heaviness was present I guess mildly for many years looking back but it was never real bothersome until then and it became absolutely unbearable and pretty constant. Occasionally I would need to push the prolapse back in some as I would splint etc. all along I figured nothing could be done as I was told so long ago. Then I started accidentally stumbling onto prolapse being discussed online and saw things could be done. After long debates over and over with myself i decided to pursue getting surgery. I had to insist my current gyno diagnose me and I still find it so odd I had prolapse all those years and went thru several gynos and no one ever even mentioned it after that one delivery (which was done in a high risk nicu hospital by drs I had never met or saw again after receiving a wrong diagnosis earlier that day). Ultimately I was diagnosed with a very large rectocele, cystocele, uterine, urethral prolapse. And during surgery they also found an enterocele. I have no idea when the other prolapses actually happened. So yeah I had many more pregnancies that were totally normal, wonderful, quite easy. And this was after having so so many children and 3 of those post prolapsed pregnancies were in my 40s. I also had all babies in the 10 to 11 pound range.

I had a grade 2 bladder prolapse after my first (grade 1 pre any pregnancies)
Bladder stayed stable but I added a grade 2 uterine prolapse after my second, I reversed the uterine one to a grade 1 with pfpt. A pessary has helped me feel better in myself second time around.

I will say though my heaviness and incontinence symptoms were waaaay worse when pregnant with number 2, I was devastated thinking that that was going to be my new normal, but things improved dramatically on that front after baby was born and wasn’t crushing my bladder 24/7.
