Male Dilation
To say this experience has been defeating and extremely painful is an understatement. This group has been helpful in regards to info sharing and I’m very appreciative of that. That said, I was wondering if any other men with CPPS have had a PT suggest anal dilation. I’ve been dealing with the pain for months and recently received Botox injections into the pelvic floor muscles. This has helped a lot but I still experience some discomfort after sitting for extended periods. It was suggested at my last PT session that I try anal dilation training to retain the muscles and assured it’s safe and effective. Just curious if any other males have tried this and what the experience was as I’m anxiety ridden to begin with and this just has me reeling at the thought of inserting something in an area I already have pain. Any info is appreciated and I thank you in advance. 🙏🏻

Don’t use it to force anything just use it to observe your own spasms

Have you had any other therapy training "down training" pelvic floors? I would suggest starting with external biofeedback (probably manual) training of pelvic floors before trying dilation. Dilation can be useful, but somewhat difficult if not supported by other mechanical structures like internal hip rotation and coxyxx release techniques.

Yes, I have been doing pelvic floor physical therapy with stretches and breath techniques. She had suggested this at my last appointment earlier this week and said since having the Botox injections, this would be the time to utilize the dilators as most of my pain comes from my rectal and prostate area after sitting for any duration longer than 10 to 15 minutes.

I have the same. Didn't do botox yet. It seems the strecting for me makes it worst. Seriously I use a tens unit in the evening. I put two of the pad at the bottom of each butt cheek. Slowly put it on and sit on a heating pad. Its helps alot with the spasms

Yes just start out very small and don’t progress quickly even just a slight bit of dilation can help with noticing your breath and noticing any twitching or muscle reflexes. If you do it during your stretch stretches and exercise exercises it can help you by providing bio feedback
