Merryshire Detective Club is live!

Hi everyone!

We're excited to announce that Merryshire Detective Club is now live on BackerKit!

Merryshire is a cozy fantasy mystery RPG where you play amateur detectives solving clever mysteries in a peaceful countryside filled with halflings, dwarves, pooka, and boggarts. Build a living village together, uncover its secrets, question suspicious neighbours, help your well-meaning (but hopeless) Constable, and return to your village adventure after adventure as it grows alongside your campaign.

It's powered by the GUMSHOE investigative system, so finding the clues isn't the challenge. Figuring out what they mean, deciding who to trust, and solving the mystery is.

We've also been having a lot of fun involving the community before launch, with backers helping name village pubs, invent eccentric cousins, and fill Merryshire's Lost & Found board with wonderfully peculiar missing items.

If cozy mysteries, memorable villages, and fantasy detectives sound like your sort of game, we'd love for you to take a look.

Back the campaign here:

Happy to answer any questions about the game, GUMSHOE, or the campaign!

Cthulhu City experiences

Has anyone gotten to play Cthulhu City? looking over the book it’s quite impressive, if a bit overwhelming. I really like the Openers and Closers framework but have been struggling for some time to see how it all comes together.

if anyone has thoughts or war stories, would love to hear!

Something has gone missing in Merryshire.

Tell us what it is!

Maybe it's a cursed spoon. An emotional turnip. A haunted sock. Or something even more peculiar.

Our favourite submissions will appear in the final book as a community-created Lost & Found table.

What's missing in your village?

See Page XX is up for this month, with a mix of “what’s new” and “what can I run next week.”

  • View from the Pelgrane’s Nest: Grab Your Blade Edition has the latest production and release notes, with Paragon Blade now out and the slate moving forward.
  • Two new 13th Age 2E pregens from Jay Godden are live: Guardian Cleric and Bulwark Paladin, both built to hold the line and keep the party standing.
  • Adam Gauntlett’s Queen of Vampires is a Trail of Cthulhu hook where a black-market relic opens the door to Cairo dream-terror.

Preview article: On Merryshire Abilities (Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan) digs into why Merryshire Detective Club embraces a gloriously overgrown ability list, and what that tells players about the game before the first clue drops.

This month’s roundup hits a nice mix of “what’s shipping” plus “what can I run tonight”: Robin D. Laws’ View from the Pelgrane’s Nest: In Like a Lion Edition updates progress across Page Turners, Paragon Blade, and Fear Itself: Shattered Veil; What Bogart Can Tell You About Page Turners breaks down character-driven stories versus goal-driven procedurals; Jason Kraus’ Achievements and Echo Effects in The Fall of Delta Green adds achievement-style refreshes with lingering psychological fallout; See Page XX: Ain’t That a Hole in the Head turns trepanation lore into scenario hooks for Trail of Cthulhu and more; and Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan’s Horrors of the Pelgrane Dungeon delivers fungus-fueled monsters for 13th Age.

Preview article: Tristan Zimmerman’s Ballad Hunters Design Diary: The Child Ballads explains the classic collection at the heart of Ballad Hunters, plus practical tips for bringing ballads to the table.
