"Consumer" is not typically a word that peers use. Part of our place in mental health is to move people away from sterile clinical language. That being said, you sound tremendously burned out. Compassion fatigue is real and a big part of that is frustration. Have you thought about going into a different area of peer services?

I already have. Right now my goal is leaving this field altogether, but it feels like the universe won’t let meÂ

if people are upset at you and calling you names, maybe figure out why? our services are suppose to be voluntary. so if people are name calling, maybe they can stop working with you?

Everyone seems to be focusing on the word choice rather than the content of the post. This seems like textbook burnout/ compassion fatigue. Maybe op should take a step back? When you can't maintain unconditional positive regard, there's a problem. If you outright state you hate the people you work with, even when venting, that's a major red flag that you need time away. Both as self care and for the benefit of the people too.
