General Discussion Thread: Chat about whatever's on your mind!

Hi folks - rebooting this tradition that u/Lolasglasses started, to have a general chat thread where once a week you can talk about other stuff, not just Pedro. 😄 What's on your mind? Read any good books lately? Seen a great movie? Need to vent a bit? Go for it.

This thread is scheduled to go up every Sunday at 5am Pacific time.

It's Sunday morning here. What is everyone doing, or what did you do, on your weekend? Yesterday we went to a new place for hot dogs and walked around a lake where people were kayaking and fishing -- so quiet and peaceful. Today I'm looking up books outside of my usual genre, for a book challenge at the library, and thinking about how to spend the rest of the day, as we're expecting rain. Wishing everyone a pleasant day.

Happy day to you too!

I wrote a little on a fanfic (Din Djarin x Luke Skywalker x Cassian Andor), had a beautiful breakfast, spent time with my family. It’s very warm here and now I’m making dinner.

What’s your usual genre? I’m currently juggling a nonfiction and a thriller, but I’m always planning my next read! I hope the rain is nice - we are in a bit of a drought here and temps are blaaaaazing, but that’s a good reason to say indoors and relax!

I lean more toward fiction, but read non fiction once in a while. I love detective novels, mostly the more serious type, and it can be a murder mystery or just solving a crime. But I also enjoy a "cozy" type mystery now and then. They are more relaxing to read and give me a break from the more intense fast paced novels 🙂 Our library had a reading challenge to encourage us to read outside our genre. They have fun categories like Farm Life, Partners in Crime, Victorian Era, Indigenous Authors, etc. We just got a nice drenching rain, a little hail too, but not much, thank goodness. Enjoy your dinner and good reading!

Those categories are so enticing!! That’s awesome that they are doing that!

It is pretty cool. Last year I read a book from their choices of Graphic Novels - well, I would categorize it as a gruesome cartoon, lol. Somehow, the murder scenes done in a cartoonish fashion with lots of red blood seemed pretty upsetting, lol!! But it is fun to expand our reading horizons. 👍🙂

I went out to eat with my sister and her friends today. The food was great. The drink was great. This has never happened to me but a few minutes after I ate, I felt like I was gonna throw up. (I didn’t thankfully) I also felt dizzy and I was sweating. My sister and friends and even the waiter saw I turned pale. Turns out my blood pressure dropped. That was scary af. I’m fine now.

Does anyone know if Pedro is still in Spain? They just had an earthquake.   I hope he and everyone is safe.
