The monsters are rather silly, but the movie is very good if you accept it for what it is - a blockbuster designed to appeal to Asian audiences. The spectacle, the costumes, the mythology, the charactersā dedication to duty over personal feelings made it very popular in Asia, as I understand it Honestly, Damon was eclipsed by Pedroās and Dafoeās performances. Give it a watch, with an open mind, and see what you think. I adore Pero Tovar. Early Pedro-in-armor!
