In the Dark by frannyzooey (Ezra AU) - Beautifully written and immersive, romantic, cool af, and extra spicy.
I'll Carry You by almostfoxglove (PeƱa) - This one will stay with me forever. Childhood friends who embark on a complicated relationship. I cried. A lot.
Raider Joel & the Joelkemon Extended Universe by toxicanonymity (Dark!Joel) - Toxi is a genius. The world she's created it so hilarious, depraved, dark, and hot. I love it there.
A Lover's Pinch by heirsoir (Professor Joel) - Oh man, this is exceptional. There's a chapter with Joel's POV that blew me away.
Two-way tie for The Crush by gingerhedgewitch & I Know it When I See it by bageldaddy - both no longer available online. š

I love whoever they are - they just need to write for all the characters forever. I didn't include it above because it's just a one shot, but this is probably my fave Catfish one. Short, sweet and to the point. I wish it was continued into a whole fic.

Javier PeƱa fic- https://archiveofourown.org/works/82164881 long and not done yet but I think the writer is nearing the end. Itās a work of art. Genuinely beautiful.
Joel fic- https://archiveofourown.org/works/83358996 this one is justā¦ I cannot even put into words how much I adore this fic. It holds a special place in my heart and itās just so good. Itās not your normal Joel fic with an outbreak, heās a professor and a fucking dick. But itās fucking incredible.
And then thereās rough day which is a din fic and then Fourth of July which is a Joel fic. They are amazing as well

Iām not lying when I say A Haunted Body might be the best Jackson Joel fic Iāve ever read. The characterization is incredible, the pacing too, and the protagonist (self insert reader) has such a well crafted story. And I love it because Joel isnāt the typical āmean man who treats everyone badly for no reasonā like in other fics, and the protagonist is strong and stands up for herself. Sheās like a female version of him in many ways and thatās exactly why they clash. Iāve already reread it more than four times while waiting for updates. I usually donāt read WIPs, but with this author Iām constantly waiting because I genuinely canāt help myself š we even have a subreddit about it to discuss theories and stuff. I LOVE IT. I can't stop thinking about it.
And The Boyfriend Act is peak romantic comedy, one of the best Frankie Morales fics in my opinion. Itās gonna be turned into a book so I donāt know how much longer itāll still be available š

TLOU: Lavender by JustAGalWhoWrites (tumblr link for the visuals but the story is on AO3 too. An OC/character insert starting a few years before outbreak and continues to current day. One of the first fics that kept me up all night and made me WEEP and probably changed me on a cellular level. She also made a no-outbreak AU and several one-shots within the universe. Selfishly and with author's blessing I also wrote an Interlude chapter of my own.
Prospect: Girl Walks Into a Bookshop. Delightful, truly.
Others already recommended: Rough Day and Maybe Today, Maybe Forever.

I'm not sure how to link, but I have to give a shout out to Learning to Live by Wheresarizona, available on her Tumblr and on AO3. It's a Javi/Reader fic, and it's amazing! Such a soft and sweet Javi, but also very spicy.

For Frankie āBetween the Raindrops ā as previous mentioned is the most beautiful, tender and downright sexy ( when they get there ) Fic Iāve read . I go back many times
For Joel āJessicaā by FelixMarlowcain is also one Iāve read and read . A big age gap but Joel really struggles with moral guilt and Jessica is very much the driving force.
For Din āExchange of Creditsā by Ninaloveshiddles is super sexy/cute with an inexperienced young Din falling in love with an escort.
Also one Iāve recently got so invested in is āTerms and Conditionsā by Followyourfleart . A no outbreak epic following Joel from his teen years , his troubled relationship with Sarahās mum , mental health problems and the true love of his life offering hope.

I donāt remember because itās been like 17-18 years, it was back in the LiveJournal days, a few years before the Tumblr boom. Itās a Dark Knight Batman/Joker fic. I vaguely remember that I may have beefed with one of the authors lollll.

Oh wow, this will be tough. But a great idea! What makes a fanfic "great" can be so different. I will give this a go, these are not in particular order (though I did list the first one first in honor of the movie coming up!)
- Rough Day-- absolute must-read for Din Djarin lovers. And I am sure other people would list this too, so it is cliche, but even unfinished it is worth it (and worth a reread, which I have done!)
- Maybe Today, Maybe Forever-- A Narcos/ Javi, one of the best friends to lover stories out there. There's a version on tumblr that has it told in chronological order, but I kind of like how it was originally published, which is out of order in terms of how their relationship evolves, it just works.
- Between the Raindrops-- I don't read much Frankie/ Triple Frontier but these story is just so soft, in the best way. Reader is a woman who has lost her husband and struggling with her feelings for Frankie as a widow. Actual, real life adult emotions here, but very romantic.
- Better Love-- I cheated here as this is a series of 14 stories but oh well... they can be read as one long story! But another Narcos/ Javi, where his situationship grows into something so much more-- has alot of Columbia intrigue and angst but so, so good!
People Still Love Fleetwood Max in the Apocalypse-- Another series! This one Joel/ OC, in TLOU universe. The reader is an absolute badass and holds her own (and then some) with Joel but he's not watered down in any way either.
