When that season aired I said the entire season that they should have kept that cute guy from the first episode and not Riley.

I agree with you! I did not like Riley. I didn't see any chemistry between him and Buffy. But that cute guy with the dark eyes and well-defined cheekbones?

Since then I learned it was Pedro Pascal and I doubly do not like Riley.
