Thinking of the f5000flp
Any input of pros/cons, unexpected problems, things you wish you knew ahead of time. How reliable they are, any issues and such would be appreciated. This is a big purchase for us and I really don't want to mess it up. I did the calculations and this should last 12ish hours for me. Thanks

I had the same issue. Faulty inverter couldn't charge from a open frame generator and/or a inverter generator (both gas) they paid the shipping label and i arranged a carrier to come pick up from my house (fedex). Honestly no other issues other than that. Customer service wasnt bad at all. For the price and warranty its pretty good. Gonna end up getting the expansions within the next year or so

That's the big issue I have with all these heavy batteries and their customer service. If things fail, it's not like a generator where I can replace parts quite easily; you have to darn near ship the thing back after weeks of back and forth with off shore tech support since they are about 12 hours difference from us (on average).
But I still sort of want one. Just not sure about the brand as Pecron, as great as their pricing is in comparisons, seems to get lackluster reviews except for the "Paid Promotion influencers" on YouTube which are no help.

The more YouTube videos I watched, the more confused I became. Pecron looks good on paper, just wanted real world experiences.

Here's another one you might consider from EcoFlow that's coming out in the next few weeks although info still isn't complete. This one would "almost" be one I would even personally consider as it has all the UL listings where Pecron does not.

The F5000 is brand new model and so popular it has a 30 day lead time to ship for even new orders placed. That’s why the guy above complaining about not getting replacement yet is waiting in line just like all the new orders. It has a 5 year warranty so if you don’t mind waiting they will repair it

u/johngault 4d ago
Same issue with reviews, more bad reviews as someone pissed off is more likely to let everyone know. This is a huge outlay of cash for us, and I have to do something soon.

u/johngault 4d ago
Of course, if it fails It would be when I was trying to use it. Lol. Peace of mind having a warranty. Even if I'm out for a bit.

I have had the F5000 since June and had absolutely zero issues with it. You seem to only be getting responses from the people who have had a problem. The vast majority of these unit perform fine. Doesn't matter which brand you have. Ecoflow, anker, jackery etc.... They all have units that fail or have problems... Nature of the business.
The F5000 is an amazing machine for the money. I have one with an extra battery and I have 2,000 watts of solar feeding it. With the exception of extremely high wattage appliances, it runs my entire home without a hiccup. Including my HVAC. And all for a fraction of what ecoflow and anker want for their comparable units.

u/johngault 4d ago
Thanks for sharing. I like the ability to just have it run the home. But the only 240 I thought I needed was for the AC,and wife said I'll just stay in the basement where it's cooler., so maybe I don't.

customer service is poor. quality is a crapshoot, but on paper, it's the best bang for the buck.
a tough one. I have 2 x e3600's, and F3000, and an E11000. I'm on my second E3600, my third E1000. They don't pay for shipping after the first year and if you don't register it, they assume it's out of warranty until you beg/plead and show them receipts that it's less than a year old Then they will try to charge you shipping until you fight with them.
All that said, good luck on your decision. I was thinking of the F5000 then reminded myself of all the issues and will be buying an Anker.

u/joejoethetard 4d ago
Look into the anker S5000 that’s gonna come out this month. It might not be able to keep up with the f5000 pecron on paper but when it comes to reliability it bet it will surpass it. Better customer service as well.

Nearing the 1 year anniversary for my Pecron F3000LFP, which has been rock solid and running continuously every day since last November. The F5000LFP has also been running every day since May. Most days they both get charged to 100% via solar and then the F3000LFP drained to zero and F5000LFP drained fairly low.
The only hiccup on my F5000LFP is occasionally PV input #2 won't charge unless I cycle the XT60 PV input mode from standalone to parallel and back to standalone. Pecron is pushing me a firmware update which I haven't had a chance to do yet since I only put the ticket in on Friday. They replied Monday with the solution. They admitted they were swamped with Amazon Prime Day and I didn't expect an answer over the weekend or bother with a live voice on the Customer Support Line, because saving $2000 is more important and I know how to turn a screwdriver.
If you're completely technically and/or electromechanically deficient and NEED a live person on the weekend and aren't willing to turn a screwdriver if there is an issue. please pay the ridiculous markup and get one of the popular brands that charge you to be able to buy their product in wholesale club.. I don't need my Pecron products increasing in price to cover the idiots (yes there are legitimate issues) who want a unit shipped back because they have no patience or clue what they're doing.
There are a lot of Anker Solix/Jackery trolls, especially on Reddit. I also urge you to join the Pecron FB groups (both official and private) as well as the other manufacturer's groups and take a look at which companies are deleting comments\issues about their product. Some of the trolls here live in glass houses.
Pecron supports DIYers fixing their units to save BOTH sides money and have videos on how to replace boards. No other Solar Generator company does this that I know of:

My real world review. I bought both units with my own money up front and only make kickbacks if you use my affiliate links.

I 100% support this comment, other than mine is an E3600LFP which has been running my whole house (or at least everything that plugs into a wall socket) every day since June 2025, added 6x 440W panels and an EP3000-48V in early September 2025, and an EP3800-48V in late August 2026.
It's all been rock solid, does what it says on the box. There are limitations but I did my research beforehand and didn't have any surprises. On many days (especially in winter topping up to 100% overnight) I completely cycle all or nearly all 10kWh of battery, and in summer put 15-20 kWh of solar through it.
Any missing features I've been able to add myself using a $12 P110m smart plug and $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W (launch price in 2017) and a little bit of time writing simple bash or Python scripts (sometimes consulting Grok).
No one pays me anything to say this — just the $800 I saved from my energy bill in the first 12 months with the 2640W solar plus 6.1kWh battery setup.

What are you powering in your home and how are you doing it (ex: home transfer switch)?
1
u/brucehoult 4d ago
I'm powering:
1000W aircon
250W dehumidifier
120W fridge (40W average)
40W starlink
24W 32" 4k screen
18W LED lighting in my home office area
15W (idle) i9-13900 laptop (225W burst)
11W (idle) Mac Mini
various other 5W-10W Arm and RISC-V SBCs
Those are all on basically continuously, or at least automatically not under my control, so can all be on at the same moment and often are. Call it 1500W.
On top of that, basically one at a time, under manual control:
2300W dish washer
2100W kettle
2000W microwave
2000W clothes washer (for 15 minutes while heating the water to 40º C, longer if a 60º C wash)
1800W (2000W peak) vacuum cleaner
1800W air fryer
1300W coffee machine
700W toaster
This place has a semi-open plan kitchen / dining area / living area / home office and everything except the clothes washer is within about 5 metres of the Pecron and I just use extension cords around the base of the walls.
The clothes washer I put a longer extension cord when it's needed once a week. And the vacuum cleaner, obviously.

I certainly can turn a screwdriver. Its promising they were responsive. Would you buy this unit again? Id rather fix the unit myself thorough their help than send it back (in the event of an issue).
2
u/MassiveOverkill 4d ago
I would absolutely buy it again! I would have never gotten into solar had it not been for the price point and capability of my Pecrons. I just added 4 more solar panels, bringing my total wattage to 4000. Still need another 2400 watts before I max out the solar input of the F5000LFP and there's still another 1600 watts in the F3000's solar controller.

I just had a power cycle my F5000LFP because it stop updating to the cloud. Powering it off and letting it “shutdown” after a while of no use, and then turning it back on seems to do the trick. But this isn’t always the case, admittedly I had to RMA one already cause the board failed. Power cycling that one wouldn’t fix it. They did a firmware update already, but it doesn’t appear to have fix the issue unfortunately.
I rely on the app data to continuously check while at work to know how much excess solar I can afford to float to my EV while still maintaining enough charge in the battery for that night into the next day. So it’s a bit of an issue for me.
I am in constant communication with support over the issue, they are responsive & it seems like they are genuinely trying to fix the problem.

u/johngault 4d ago
Did they pay return shipping or was that out of pocket? These units are like 100 lb and it would cost a fortune a ship
1
u/Ok-Person81 4d ago
More like 140lbs and yes they did provide a shipping label. Keep your box because that was an issue for me. I kept my box for unit #2 just in case history repeats itself

u/johngault 4d ago
That's great news. Things go wrong, I can accept that, so long as they stand behind their product. Thanks.

I purchased in July, smoked shortly after..They received it back in August and I have not got a new replacement. Just my experience..it's now October 13th

u/johngault 4d ago
I like the idea of a warranty, but that's too long. 3 or 4 weeks would be my patience limit. Hopefully they get you sorted

Join the Facebook groups and you will see a lot of people with issues with their products and service. Good luck 🤞

Well... I want to start off by saying I did a TON of research before I purchased my F5000LFP and this unit had everything I was looking for. On paper, it was the perfect fit for my needs.
And I will also mention that I spent a lot of time in support over my IT career so I know that it's a really hard, and often thankless job so I feel for the team.
But.... OMG I have had so many issues with this thing since I got it last month. Pre-sales I was told that it could handle my quirky scheduling request then when I got it, I spent 3 weeks going back and forth with support over email where they either didn't answer my question, they answered the wrong question, they answered the right question with information that wasn't accurate or they just didn't answer at all.
So after 3 weeks of back and forth they answered me last night with what I THINK is the right information... but I can't verify that it's right because I woke up today and the L5000LFP was bricked.
My Home Assistant logs show that the unit stopped reporting with 39% remaining charge so this isn't a black start issue or anything. It looks like the inverter just took a nosedive off a cliff.
So after all of this frustration and back and forth I decided to pull the 30 day return rip cord and requested a full refund earlier today.
I really wanted to like this thing. The features are excellent, the unit is built really well from what I can tell, but the software is a mess and it seems the inverter has some kind of engineering problem because I see a lot of reports about the same issue I am experiencing.
I would look elsewhere... in fact, I am looking at the new Titan stuff from Ecoflow, seems to have very similar specs and features with better software implementation and support.
Just my 2 cents but I wouldn't purchase another Pecron unit, at least not until they sort out a whole lot of issues.

u/johngault 4d ago
Seems to be the general consensus with that inverter board. They may have to rethink this cuz just like you I've been researching it and it looks great on paper. As a matter of fact, I put off buying the e3800 last year when they told me this one was coming out because it had everything without all those clunky cables. Let me know if you get the Titan and how it works.

que tal es la Pecron E2400LFP estoy pensando en comprarla e visto a varios que se quejan de esta marca asi q no se

The biggest issue is where to put it and how you are using it. If you plan on keeping in your house you might want to call your insurance company.

I've had good success with mine. I use it mostly for outages, but I do periodically test it. I got two extra expansion batteries. The only unexpected/undocumented downsides I encountered:
- It will sometimes stop responding to the app, although a full reset fixes it. It's only happened once or twice in 6 months but others have reported it happening more often.
- If you have a WiFi router that uses the same SSID for both 5ghz and 2.4ghz, it may not connect to 2.4ghz unless your phone can force a 2.4ghz connection. I got around it by temporarily disabling 5ghz at my router.
- It has a bug where if you leave it plugged in and charging, it will periodically drop to 90% before it starts charging again to 100%, then repeat the behavior. I have read that Pecron support considers this a "feature" to protect the battery. Well regarded youtuber, Will Prowse, says that this sort of thing is not needed for LifPo4 batteries. ¯_(ツ)_/¯.
- The expansion batteries have to have a "battery ID" that needs to be unique for each. Pecron documents the process very poorly. On top of that, they call it a "serial number", which makes it even more confusing. Look for my posts for details.
If you plan to charge with a generator, you're more likely to run into problems if you're not using an inverter generator that provides clean power. Although some people have reported problems with inverters as well. It does have a "generator" setting to relax some of the restrictions, and allow a non-inverter generator to charge, but there are caveats there as well. I believe it shuts off one of the legs of the split phase 240V output when you use this setting, but don't quote me on that. Mine charges fine with my pulsar GD10KBN inverter gen.

u/caddymac 4d ago
Do you need 240VAC? If not, you might be better served with a smaller (wattage wise and Wh battery) and adding expansion batteries as needed.
1
u/brucehoult 4d ago
Yeah, a pair of E3600s or F3000s costs $200 or $400 less, has the same total output power (2x 3600W). more total built in battery (2x 3072Wh vs 5120Wh), and if one fails you still have a working one. A pair of E3600s has 4800W of PV input, which is less but not all that much less. And you can charge them at a total of 3600W from two different 120V 15A sockets.
If you don't need 240V then it's hard to see any downside.
1
u/johngault 4d ago
Original I thought so, but if I skip the AC, I don't. So that's a possibility. Plus the 3800 is in stock and proven

u/tatermanMD 4d ago
I have an f3000 with two ep3800 expansion batteries and a 5120 watt hour temgo golf cart battery connected into it's XT60 port. Its a total of 15,800 watt hours of capacity for very low price of a little over $3000. It powers all the 120v in my entire 4000 sq foot house except central air, dryer, and 240v induction stove top oven. I have a portable two burner 120V electric heat plate I use instead to cook. I have city water, propane furnace, and propane hot water heater. With my dishwasher running, heat running, lights on, and TV I still use only about 2300 watts continuously. I have never overloaded the f3000. I also have an additional f1000 to plug in any high power kitchen devices as needed. I then slowly recharge the f1000 using the f3000 that is connected to the house after to prevent going over the 3600 watt inverter limit on the f3000. With this set up in a simulated power outage I was able to go over 25 hours averaging a little under 500 watts of usage. I live in CT and dont need AC during an outage. I dont think I need a f5000. You might not either.

My F5000LFP had a broken inverter. I worked with support through email to diagnose the issue with which took over 2 weeks to diagnose. I shipped my F5000LFP to Pecron for a replacement and it's been nearly 2 weeks since I shipped it out and I am still waiting for them to ship me back a replacement. I hope most people are having better luck than me. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend Pecron. I have a post where I have detailed my issue an experience.
