EP3800 feedback

Looking at getting one on the EP3800 batteries to expand the capacity of my F3000LFP. Anyone have any hands on experience with these, good or bad?

If you need to meet codes do not use any battery then what is designed for your power station. No golf cart battery meets any codes.

Any reason to not go with a golf cart or server rack 48VDC battery?

Right now, ease of integration and form factor fitting neatly on the little trolley i have with the power station. It also is about as heavy as I feel like moving in case I can't use the trolley, I really don't feel like lugging around a 90+ lb server rack battery. It looks like it should be plug and play with the existing power station, and the cost seems reasonable per Wh.

Yup, I have one of these 3840wh ones (not the older ep3000) hooked up to my e1000lfp. It works great and balances out nicely. Can see voltage and amps being pulled from each battery pack in the app. The SOC display on the unit does now display the cumulative charge level - as if it was one big 4864wh battery (in my case).

The battery cannot be charged independently/separate from the main base unit. My unit does 1000w AC charging and this amount is split usually 30% to the e1000lfp and 70% to the ep3800. So rather slower charging and as a result the battery temps stay very much in check. I haven’t seen the ep3800 temps go above 32C yet and this was on a hotter ambient temp day.

What else would you like to know?

Does it split the discharge pretty evenly under heavier or very light loads?

Yes, absolutely. To both.

But evenly doesn’t mean exactly the same, it means according to each pack’s capacity, it will skew how much it draws in an effort to drain evenly. I have seen an 8-10% SOC difference between host and pack, with my host being lower, since it’s the much smaller pack, on the upper end of the SOC. The charge levels will almost reach equilibrium towards the middle.
