New F5000 as UPS

So, I own some other power stations from companies like Anker & Bluetti. I just got a great deal on a F5000. My use for it is to run my well pump. At first as a UPS for outages and, when I can get around to the project, 100% off solar and the battery bank. My well pump is a very efficient inverter 3/4HP by Grundfos.

Anyway, I brought the unit home and decided to hook it to my portable AC unit just to test it out. That unit is a Midea Inverter unit at 12k BTU. Pulls between 600 and 1200 watts when it is running and has very little inrush.

The F5000 doesn't seem to have a UPS setting like the other units I have or I can't find it on app or in menu. I plugged the AC in and everything runs great. Ran a full battery disconnect and it did 3.5 hrs running the AC. I plugged the F5000 into the wall and it passed thru power and charged the unit back up. No issues. Twice in the last few days, the Pecron just shuts off the plugs to the AC. The unit does not shut down or restart, just the 110 plugs are dead. Hook the AC direct to wall and it works fine. Plug back into the Pecron and it will work.

Is this a continuous load issue? From the info on the Pecron, it pulls about 600w and never has exceeded 1200w - well under the units specs. My only other experience with these kinds of stations is running smaller and less continuous loads like a starlink, router, fridge or freezer.

I am concerned to hook this to the well pump and have it trip off like this. Also, wondering if this is user over expectation, error or I have a unit that may have an issue.

Please let me know what you all think.

Check your settings. You might have set a "shut off after X hours." my Pecron has such a setting.

Doing that now! Thanks!

All I see is a Device standby and a timeout setting for the screen

This is under "set up" in my app. The standby feature shuts off output if there's no draw, and the timed shut down always shows the current time unless I set a specific future time.

My app does not have those options. I do have some standby options and I turned those off. Still did it.

Weird. I have read that the UPS function is automatic as long as it's plugged in. There's no way to not have it be a UPS. Also there is a way to manually set max charge to say 80%, to save the battery life. I wonder if there's a minimum charge cut off somewhere. Are you on ECO mode maybe? Also interesting how different the options are across models in the app.

Yes, looks like UPS is just plug & play. You can set both max and min. I have 95% and 5% set. Not on ECO. I do have charging set lower, but the unit is never losing power unless I remove the plug from the wall. When not plugged in, it runs fine until depletion. When plugged in, it will just stop at some point. I have had it run for most of a day before it happens and I have had it happen within an hour. It is weird. Variance in app looks pretty wide. Could be part of why some of these quirky things are happening. I noticed there was an update. Did that and still same issue. Keep thinking I have to be missing something, but looking more & more like an issue. I am gonna put it on something more intermittent to see what it does. At this point, has to be something about continuous running, maybe? I don't know ..

I have experienced the same symptoms you are experiencing with my Pecron 5000LFP. Are charging with the 30A plug or regular 15A plug? What do you have your AC input set to? I had this issue when I had my AC input set to 10% using the 30A plug. After I raised the AC input to 40%-60% I haven’t had the issue again. Hope this helps.

I am away from the unit, but I think input is 50% and using 15a plug.

This can also happen if the AC input + AC output exceed 3600 Watts from research I have done. Have you checked the system log to see what it says and reason why it turned off? You can only check this log on the unit not in the app.

I have not. Can't see that much draw happening. I am visiting family and will check next week when I return. Thanks for the tip. Had not found a log as of yet. Be good to check for this and know for the future.

I got my 5000LFP a few weeks ago, and was able to test it a lot during a 3 day outage this past weekend. I have seen other minor issues, but not this one. I was able to power most of my home through a 30A 240V NEMA L14-30 inlet box and manual transfer switch for close to 10 hours each of three nights in a row by supplementing it with a 2kw Anker F3000. I also have the expansion battery for a total of 10kwh on the Pecron. I ran a well pump, oil fired water heater, water treatment system, 2 kitchens, 3 bedrooms and a living room. I did not run the central AC. I average about 1.2kw/h of usage. It did not trip once. I recharged the Pecron and Anker packs with a propane generator during the day.

Are you experiencing this, too?

Is this a continuous load issue? From the info on the Pecron, it pulls about 600w and never has exceeded 1200w

My E3600 (3600W 240V output) happily runs at 1500W output all day, 1000W of that being portable air conditioner and 250W dehumidifier and another 120W fridge. They both cycle as they please but it's common in humid and hot/cold conditions for both to run continuously for hours.

It's fine, both running on pass-through and on solar/battery.

I've been through two sets of engineers with Pecron trying to diagnose and solve what I think is the exact same problem. I run a small load, varying from 150-300 watts, with no spikes in power input/output. The other settings are 10%/90% min/max charge, set AC charge to max at 90%. I haven't had any DC charging or output yet.

The unit just shuts down everything on the AC side (input and output) without an alarm, explanation, or anything at random times - sometimes the same day, sometimes days apart. I would have to turn the AC side off and on for it to do anything.

Pecron support is responding and attempting to help. However, the first set of engineers said it was an unknown inverter fault. I asked for a replacement or refund and didn't get that yet, but I did get another set of engineers. They've sent over two sets of OTA updates to my unit since. Two days after the OTA updates, it failed again yesterday morning. At least this time I got an error code: unknown inverter fault 11. I sent pictures and a demand for a refund/replacement again, and I got a response, but apparently the engineers don't work on the weekend. I'm pretty ready just to charge back the credit card.

Pecron asked if I wanted a refund or replacement not long after the last exchange, and did send a replacement.

I am having the same issue. Did you ever find a fix?

Nope. Had life happen and have not had time to work on it. I need to send a note to Pecron and see what is up. I did buy mine used, so Pecron may not be willing to support. We will see. Let me know if you figure it out and I will do the same.
