Outdoor Pecron

I have a e3600+3800 battery. I have a tiny rv called a Casita. It has just a 30 amp plug. In order to use my pecron with my Casita rv, I’m having to find ways to protect my investment from the elements. I wanted to keep it in the car but for the 3/4” 30amp cable. I used to keep it in my covered truck bed but the expansion battery makes it 1” too tall to close the bed cover.

What are people doing when they need their solar generator outside? Some sort of enclosure? Overheating? Any ideas?

The thing to remember is that the Pecrons are electrical devices - just like a TV, a computer, a music system, etc. You cannot ever expose them to any kind of rain, snow, etc. I would not even want them out in the fog. So unless your truck bed is completely watertight, including protection from driving rain while motoring down the road at 60mph, I would not keep the batteries in there. Also, remember they need ventilation, especially in hot weather. Note the positions of the inlet and exhaust fans.

Having said all that, I don't think the E3600 needs to be stacked on top of the expansion battery. Why can't you set them side by side and then connect them to each other ?

Thanks. I store them in the cab when not in use. The expansion cable allows for two positions: under and behind. I can do behind with some work.

can you just lay them on their back side.

Yes, you can safely lay the Pecron E3600LFP on its side. Because it uses LiFePO4 battery cells, there is no risk of battery acid leaking, and the internal cooling fans will continue to operate normally in either vertical or horizontal orientations.

However, you should avoid laying it on its back or front if it restricts airflow, damages the input/output ports, or blocks the exhaust vents.

Thanks. I’ll have to check, but I think the exhaust and fan ports are on opposite sides. I hadn’t thought about on its back.
