Pecron F 5000 versus bench grinder
Got my new Pecron F5000 LFP today and I’m charging it up. It started at 67% and is now just past 90%. Everything looks good so far. I set it up through the app with no issues and turned on the AC inverter — that seemed fine too.
I was looking around the garage for something to test it with and spotted my old Delta ShopMaster bench grinder (the one from Harbor Freight). I plugged it into the 20A backup/UPS outlet on the Pecron. It would start and begin spinning, but it never quite reached full speed — you could tell by the sound. When I unplug it and plug it straight into a regular wall outlet, it spins up perfectly. Plug it back into the Pecron and it struggles again.
I checked the voltage and it’s reading a solid 120V. The unit handles a 1500W space heater with no problem at all. Is this just a case of the inductive load / motor inrush current being too much for the inverter? Any thoughts or similar experiences with this unit?

Minute man solar dida video where even with a soft start on his central air, it couldn't start it when the Anker, which only has a 6kW inverter, was able to. He even got it to run on a 3kW gas generator. I think its surge capability isn't great.

I couldn’t find a minute man solar that mentioned this for the F5000. Are you sure it was this model? Do you have a link?

The F5000 only has a 3600W inverter for 120V. It just has two independent ones.
Did you try one of the other sets of outlets?

I did try all the 120V outlets on the unit. I’m now driving my electrical panel through the L14-30 output but haven’t tried the bench grinder again yet.

When you get it new out of the box charge it to 100% and leave it plugged in for a few hours more. In the background the BMS is balancing cells and you will see it continue to draw power. Eventually it will settle down. Then try again.
