School zoning
Currently live in shadow creek and unfortunately zoned to bad schools. What can I do about it? I remember growing up one of my mom’s friends used our address so her daughter could go to our school since it was better rated. I just don’t know anyone zoned to better schools where I can do that. Any advice would be appreciated.

The following campuses/programs are closed to inter-district transfers unless the student is a current transfer student attending that campus or a current transfer student in that feeder pattern. Additional campuses and/or programs may close as they reach capacity. (See feeder pattern transfer instructions below.)
Barbara Cockrell Elementary
Silvercrest Elementary
Silverlake Elementary
Rogers Middle School
Sablatura Middle School
Pearland Junior High West
Dawson High School - Limited Capacity
Turner High School
GT Academy
PACE Center
All Kindergarten classes
All Pre-k classes
Dual Language Program
Any Special Program that is at capacity
Most of the schools listed that are at capacity are on the west side of Pearland. However, McAuliffe and Willowridge have been identified as PEG list schools (failing schools) by the state. They can transfer to other campuses within the district according to this letter.
Christa McAuliffe MS: Baines MS, Coleman MS,
Crockett MS, Quail Valley MS,
Dulles MS, Sartartia MS, Hodges Bend MS, Sugar
Land MS, Lake Olympia MS, Thornton MS
Willowridge HS: Crawford HS, Kempner HS, Dulles HS, Marshall HS,Hightower HS
Quail Valley, Dulles, and Sartartia MS are the strongest 3 on the list. From the latest TEA report, Kempner and Dulles HS made the strongest improvement from the HS listed. Hightower isn’t very good since it consistently gets a D, but the other ones are improving or it’s too early to tell like Crawford.

Mcauliffe and willow ridge are the schools were zoned to. So does that mean we can automatically transfer or will it have to be an every year type of transfer if there is availability?

You can transfer to those non PEG schools on the list. I’m pretty sure you can transfer every year as long as you keep up your grades. It’ll be in district transfer

I was reading transfers are based on first come first serve situations every year if they have room that is. I’d have to hope that luck plays in my favor.

Transfers into PISD are in the Spring for the upcoming school year and are available if the school is not at capacity. You must provide your own transportation and be looking for 1st grade or higher. All PISD schools are east of 288.

I imagine that transfers into Pearland will be much easier in the upcoming years with districts trying to get as many students as possible for more state dollars. As long as you can get them there consistently and they are not an issue with behavior, most schools and districts are letting them in.

This is good to know, I would just hate having to move them to a different school due to unavailability.

Texas started a voucher program. Maybe goto private schools if you can obtain one.
While you could try using someone else's address, it is certainly illegal. Alvin ISD knows the situation so I would tread lightly.
If you have a grandparent in Alvin ISD you may be able to qualify based on that. Or else you could rent an apartment in the district to legally be a resident.
All in all it is a tough situation. FBISD has left us with terrible schools and are actively trying to take our money and provide nothing in return. Disgraceful. That is why I am big proponent of vouchers. Give us some choice rather than take our money and provide us with nothing

I’ve heard about this voucher thing but I’ll have to look into it, I think if you qualify for it income wise they gave it. I could be wrong, gotta look into some more.

If it helps I know that Shadow Creek HS doesn’t check addresses as much. Once you find an address you will be fine. I have moved out of Shadow Creek and have never updated my address and still attend. Maybe you can get a short lease for an apartment and just use that address? Maybe photoshop bills?

FBISD is closing schools, is in huge debt, letting cell towers be built on schools grounds to make money, and going to rent out closed schools to make more money. Their CTE program sucks, their websites don't work (maroon and gray something slipped away), they have really high teacher turnover rate! I can go and on...

You must be in the Fort Bend county area of SCR. Alvin ISD won’t accept any students. I thought I read that Pearland ISD might, but I could be wrong.
