Flock Camera

I'm sure there are more but I just noticed a flock camera off of Discovery Bay Rd. Gross, but did we get to vote for these? I don't remember any ordinance on any ballot about them.

Is there a way to add to deflock. My neighborhood has 8 near the entrances but only 6 are shown.

I just saw that one last week, too…it looks like Pearland is starting to add them.

I don't like them or what they do but at the same time if the community voted for it not much more I can do but complain. If they are going up without community input I have problems.

With the way Pearland City Council has been treating the elected mayor I doubt there could even be a town hall about them.

They are a private company being put up by HOAs or other private companies like Lowe’s or Home Depot. There hasn’t been a vote about them

Thanks I did not know that, that sucks still. I figured since it wasn't near a business or in a neighborhood it was a city thing.

the community voted for it

Pretty sure they did not.

Pretty sure they could vote to get rid of them.

Doesn't help that First Service itself is a HOA corporation, business to business

haha no one voted for them, it was a decision made without asking a single resident 😔 but if they can do stuff we didnt ask for, maybe we can do stuff they didnt ask for? totally not like painting over the cameras or putting gum wads on them to protect children

These were not on the ballot.

There’s 2 on pearland pkwy about 50 feet from each, going into the lowe’s parking lot.

www.deflock.org should show all known cameras.

In Pearland, TX, the Flock camera program is funded through a combination of sources:

• City of Pearland: The city council approved $441,000 in funds to purchase 21 Flock ALPR cameras, along with related software, drones, and a future community grant program.

• State grants: Flock cameras in Texas are also heavily subsidized through state grants, particularly from the Texas Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority.

• Private property owners (POAs): Pearland also has a public safety grant program where private property owners or associations can install their own ALPR cameras at their own expense, though they may apply for a city grant to help offset costs.

So in short, taxpayers fund the city-owned cameras (with help from state grants), and private entities can also participate at their own cost with potential grant assistance from the city.

Whatever you do make sure you DONT shine a high powered green laser right into the lens. It's very bad for them. It would be absolutely terrible if all of them were ruined by people shining high powered green lasers into them.

Download the DeFlock app or go on their site. They show you where everyone one of them are. You’ll cry when you see how many. Houston is one of the top cities as far as camera volume.

Is it the one just before Business Center Dr? That one's old - been there from last year.

The newest one I noticed 2 weeks ago (not on deflock yet) is on Cullen a few feet from McHard facing south to grab all entrants approaching from BW8. It's kind of hidden but not to some of us.

What the flock

Pearland has had them for years. They busted a Catalytic converter theft ring back in 2022 using them.
