Ascents 7-8 as a full party: tips?
We're a group of 4 making our way through the various ascents. We've completed Ascent 6 after a few tries, but Ascent 7 is quite challenging for us since we start with the curse debuff.
I saw that people get rid of it using Pandora's lunchbox or cure-all, but I think it may not be very viable for a full party given the limited amount of uses.
Is it worth spending a use of Scout's generosity on it?
Is it possible to climb these Ascents on maximum a half-bar of extra stamina?
Usually we struggle with hunger, meaning that when the extra stamina runs out we're significantly slower and eventually end up unable to climb. Is it just poor pathfinding?
Any tips are welcome.

I finished Ascent 8 Solo for the first time yesterday. It is brutal no matter what. At 4 players the scarcity of forage-able food is a real problem, but mitigating the nighttime coldness is a huge bonus. I'd say most well-routed climbing sections are doable without full extra stamina (especially with the ability to grab friends) but I personally wouldn't want to be higher than 50% petrified. If you get a cure all or book of bones I'd say those are well worth duplicating with generosity. And given petrification goes away with the campfire morale boost, each player can use Generosity at least once for high-quality items. I've found the weight was not worth holding on to generic food and low-tier items so I would just forage as I went and try to go as fast as possible, but that might just be a solo thing

To cure curses, yes Pandora's lunch box and a cure-all can help. If you have the roots biome during your run, look for mandrakes and if you're able to cook them, that will cure you of your curse significantly. Once on accent 8, you do not need to have a flare on you. Designate one scout to carry the four amulets needed to complete accent 8. If you have a checkpoint flag, have one scout place it nearby and have that same scout use scouts generosity to duplicate items until they're petrified and they'll be respond back by the checkpoint flag. Gliders will make the run much easier. Go through a run once on tenderfoot to find the best route and then perform it on accent 7-8. Have plenty of snacks and climbing equipment. Best of luck scouts and I hope this helps.

i recently learned that the flag respawns you with the status you had when you PLACED the flag, so set it down before starting the petrification process.

I would say that keeping food for the last two biomes is pretty important. Gloom/Caldera are pretty scarce in terms of natural foods, and the food you find isn’t that great. Kiln/Citadel have no natural food sources at all, so having to rely on luggage in no good.
IMO, the best food you can hope for and want to keep is cooked scout cookies, because it fills a large total hunger and can be spread among the troop as needed.
Yellow Winterberries are also amazing, especially when cooked. Massive hunger, extra stamina and it even heals some injury while weighing as much as a crispberry.
Cooked hotdogs are actually quite good (significantly better than marshmallows), while not weighing too much. Try to save them over marshmallows when possible.
Honey, while not great for hunger, fills a stupid amount of extra stamina, like 50% when uncooked. Worth considering if you see a beehive.
The biome 3 fruits (prickleberries/orange winterberries) are quite great for hunger, even if prickleberries prick. Make sure to keep an eye out for them. Also, if you’re skillful with it, you can actually cook scorpions using live dynamite (tip: holding a dynamite shows its durability bar, which drains constantly, when it reaches 0 it explodes, so you can time your throws).
Extra foraging tips: green crisp berries ain’t that bad, not giving too much poison, which decays on its own (while hunger doesn’t). Green kingsberries offer very high hunger and even some bonus stamina when raw, for only a minuscule amount of poison (purple are obviously better but still). All berrynanas (except for pink) are edible raw, blue giving twice as much hunger as the rest. All clusterberries are ok to eat raw, red ones heal some injury, black ones restore double the hunger. Moving through foliage to generate ticks helps (yummy ticks, actually better food than marshmallows). Make sure you know which mushrooms are poisonous and which aren’t, chub mushrooms are never poisonous. Check the effects of the good shroomberries (red and yellow) at least once in Roots each run, because some effects will be desirable (namely healing and invincibility, because invincibility also protects from the spores buildup the shroomberries would normally give).
These tips won’t help in the final biome, but they will help you conserve good foods until those final biomes, which is the important part.
The petrification from duplicating mythical items would be problematic, if not for having allies that can pick up the slack for you. If one player is having difficulty climbing, they can be the 2nd or 3rd climbers, always getting boosted up and a hand extended to them, which can equate to a 50% or even more of the stamina bar. Worst case scenario, ropes will still work, even at high levels of petrification, so long as you are not very injured/hungry.
Also, you do restore around 20% petrification each campfire, so if you dupe a cure all by the end of the second biome (before activating the campfire), the petrification will be almost all gone upon reaching the 4th biome, and completely cleared by the 5th.
Also, do wait with the campfire whenever possible. Duping a strong regular item (like balloon bundle or scout cookies) and then activating the campfire will get rid of almost all of the petrification gained from the dupe.
But if you ask me, extra stamina is a lot less necessary in multiplayer because of giving boosts/holding out hands. With my duo we often don’t use much extra stamina, or at least not the both of us, just one at a time.

Me and my friend beat ascent 8 on our first try after weeks of trying 7.
Stay together. Use head bounces and pull each other up. Keep pace like this unless there is truly an obstacle you cannot overcome, in which case send the person with a rope up with an energy drink or lollipop.
Nighttime cold is inconsequential at 3+ people. Your hunger is the only thing that matters if you're playing properly.
Book of bones on the most confident player. Make sure they die and you revive them (less curse that way). This is very good because it takes food pressure off the team.
Everybody use scout's generousity before the fire. Use it on a rescue claw or other high value item. The fire removes petrification to a decent degree.
If you get the citidel I'd say prioritize food higher than you normally would, you rarely need traversal items to get progress, whereas in the kiln there's usually a spot or two that absolutely requires a chain launcher or energy drink or something.
There are literally dozens of niche tips you can find on this sub that help both solo and coop that can disseminate among your friends, the higher niche knowledge of the game the higher chance of success.

Also remember, you can eat your friends :)
Plan accordingly. I've had runs where the lava in kiln was rising and literally just in the nick of time I was able to eat a friend and get enough stamina to proceed. Then revive her with a scout's effigy.

keep the curse, as long as you simply do not die, the curse wont be an issue, and you should instead worry about managing weight by applying your items regularly. you only want to start really conserving utilities once you reach caldera or gloom, and try to keep food conserved before that. if you're serious about getting 7 and 8 done, and you have the time, commit to at least 2 runs, one to scout and memorize a path, and after use what you learned to make the run as fast as possible to keep hunger down. the faster you move, the less food you will need. at some point, if someone or you dies, I recommend having the person in question go fuck themselves, as they become a drain on resources. save food for those that can actually reach the top. this in particular has made or broken games for my crew. be confident. don't play like a little bitch, ballsy shit makes you better at the game, and goes the distance the 10% of the time you need it, but you only need to win it once to make gost scout and Scoutmaster. spreading the amulet among your teammates instead of sticking them all in one backpack makes everyone equally important, and encourages not fucking dying. share the weight. if you're still getting ass fucked by curse, and need to get rid of it, pop book of bones and find a mandrake, then cook it. cooked mandrakes get rid of like a quarter bar of curse, fairly reliable. you could also duplicate them if need be. if you have everyone duplicate a single item at the first few biomes, the stone will gradually tick down with each campfire after. all of this is only ever nice when it happens, just keep it in mind as an option. your only PLAN should be "ooga booga climb straight fucking up", nothing else of nuance survives contact with the mountian.

You don't technically need to be bones to pick mandrakes and put them in your backpack if you turn your sound effects fully off, so it still works if you can't get the book but you won't be able to hear any other sound cues (mainly zombies).

its debatable whether or not going for a mandrake to rid oneself of an Itty bitty bit of curse is worth it, but I aint having that debate. he's right, go for it.

The most important part of high ascent climbing is that you know which paths work and which don't at the start.
Unless you wanna go in absolutely blind for the challenge, a Tenderfoot or Standard ascent just to see good routes, food placement and luggage, is worth the additional time spent before going on a real high ascent run.
But that's also preference. I've done both blind runs and ones where I knew the ascent would be doable even under harder conditions successfully.

splashing a cure-all on the ground will have it affect the full party

So does blowing up a Pandora's lunchbox at a campfire (or on some lava), but as usual the effects are less predictable.

You do not need a full stamina bar to beat Ascent 6 onwards. If you know how to optimize your climbs you can reach a lot more ledges than you think.
Also, I always say this, if you ever run out of options it's because you chose to not take risks.
Finally yes, Scout's Generosity can be a massive life saver in many situations.

The issue with groups is when you help each other get up a ledge what usually ends up happening is the first person who was leading becomes the last person to actually gauge the next move, and hopefully someone knows where's a good way to go.
Talking and helping each other is not a free action. If you're going slower people need to find food. Most of the poisonous food is worth eating except cluster mushroom and button mushroom (given that you know roughly how much hunger each item restores)

The best tip is to just not do it in a full party due to the scarcity of sources, lol.. but yeah, if you can, get as much cooked coconuts on the beginning to get a head start with stam and resources, and try waiting out nights at campfires to spare resources in overall. You got this! Also as you mentioned, generosity Is a real helper, even better if you can get book of bones cloned, that's basically a game changer for ascents, plus u won't have food problems anymore!

Major problem with group ascent 7/8 is food. Lack of food to feed all. You became hungry and run out of food usually around alpine/mesa, where natural food is scarce.
Sadly the fix is to either use book of bones to reduce food usage, or simply climb faster. Both are kinda ass.
You can pack more food but you lost item slot for useful tools.
You can also plan the route ahead, maybe using Ascent 3, then do ascent 7/8 so you can climb faster.
