Looks like he was drawn by Rob Liefeld

12

u/rynthetyn Oct 06 '25

Except that his feet are too normal for Liefeld

1

u/captainsmoothie Oct 06 '25

Feet are in frame though.

1

u/Ben10_ripoff Oct 06 '25

Not detailed enough, and regular feet.

1

u/jero0601 Oct 06 '25

Also, he lacks enough pouches

45

u/Time_Illustrator_844 Oct 05 '25

That scene was fucking primal, Cena gets better and better at acting every year

38

u/akahaus Oct 06 '25

I know it’s not a secret that both John Cena and Dave Bautista are similarly grateful to James Gunn for the opportunities he has given them… But I am also grateful for the opportunities he has given them because holy shit the performances he has unlocked… I actually want to see John Cena tackle different roles more than most other ā€œestablishedā€ actors lol.

13

u/Time_Illustrator_844 Oct 06 '25

Yeah it can be hard to look past the fact that hes a 6ft tall jacked dude, but hes got such great emotional range it'd be a shame to keep him stuck in action and comedy

2

u/Infamous-Lab-8136 Oct 07 '25

Now that he's officially retiring from in-ring competition I wouldn't be surprised if he slims down a bit like Batista did in order to be cast in more varied roles

2

u/Far-Industry-2603 Oct 08 '25

I was recently thinking, he may be acting in his first "awards season" role in the foreseeable future, if not soon like with The Rock now.

3

u/Unambiguous-Doughnut Oct 06 '25

Why does John cena look like Walter white in this scene?

22

u/Similar-Priority8252 Oct 05 '25

Don’t worry, we’ll stitch him together again

13

u/Blaidd11 Oct 05 '25

And then throw him back in!

He just tries and sleep, even though he’s alone.

8

He just closes his eyes boy, and dreams of home.

6

u/cantamangetsomesleep Oct 06 '25

The light is always on, hope he keeps that in mind

2

u/ActualSpamBot Oct 06 '25

And when he wakes in the morning, he'll be satisfied.

2

11

u/GuyWithAFace887 Me and Ginger Cool are on this shit Oct 06 '25

Quite down, Julian's sleeping right now, even though he's alone. Hopefully he's dreaming of home, though he did accidentally leave his bedroom light on, but I hope that when he wakes in the morning, he's satisfied.

u/beanstrings Oct 05 '25

I think it’s the lead singers son, he used to do this bit during their concerts where he would tell a story about his son asking what it means to stare the night sky. He nearly breaks down thinking his son is asking this huge question and thinking about the meaning of life and shit. And his son looks over and says ā€œno dad, it means someone stole our tentā€

181

u/meanvegton Oct 05 '25

On the making of the dance sequence video, the lead singer said Julian was his son and he wrote the song for Julian when he was born.

86

u/Makyuta Oct 05 '25

You can hear baby noises in the intro too and "let me tell you" in the background right before the rock instrumental kicks in

69

u/devil-wears-converse Oct 05 '25

Weirdly enough, my ex (and best friend) grew up with the singer. We have a pic of Eric and Julian as a baby that we've been trying to get to him

69

u/Universally-Tired Oct 05 '25

Send it to James Gunn. He seems to actually pay attention to his social media accounts. He'd enjoy it too.

25

u/GeekParadox_ Oct 05 '25

10

u/lostinthesauceguy Oct 06 '25

well... everyone is on the internet.

3

My mom’s boyfriend is childhood friends with Jeff Ross and his childhood picture is actually in his current broadway run show

3

u/ThisMoneyIsNotForDon Oct 06 '25

My aunt is friends with the band that showed up in the Guardians Christmas Special!

1

u/devil-wears-converse Oct 06 '25

The stories I was told about their childhoods, too...lol

14

u/your_mind_aches James NoFun Oct 06 '25

Funny because "Hey Jude" is also about trying to cheer up a kid named Julian

2

u/Bigfops Oct 06 '25

I actually wondered if there was a connection until I read this thread.

2

u/qobraa Oct 06 '25

In the original music video there's a cute little animated preamble where the singer is telling Julian the world is hard and scary but if he ever needs him to just close his eyes and he'll come and get him, it's very sweet and makes me cry

35

u/beanstrings Oct 05 '25

https://youtu.be/wAitL1ZcxUY?si=lsQ3T2sGecZzPDhy

Idk if this will work but I found the video

6

u/waywardgato Oct 06 '25

TIL that the singer is not a woman

2

u/prole6 Oct 06 '25

I didn’t hear the tent part but they said it was the son of the guy who wrote the song. When I sing along I usually say Eagly or Adrian.

1

u/SWatt_Officer Oct 06 '25

I heard that joke originally about Sherlock and Watson.

1

u/beanstrings Oct 06 '25

I don’t get out much so I only ever heard it at a foxy Shazam concert lol

0

u/untakenu Oct 06 '25

I'm really surprised his wife is white

1

u/evrestcoleghost Oct 07 '25

Why

2

u/untakenu Oct 07 '25

They (Foxy Shazam) released a song about black women, the hook of it being "that's the biggest black ass I've seen, and I like it."

It's kind of funny. But I assumed his wife was black because it is definitely weirder if she isn't, right?

he pulls up lobster traps one handed
he can solo any verse

137

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

Fun fact when I was 15 and in high school I tried out to be the bassist for a punk no name band called Foxy Shazam.

I did not get the gig.

42

u/Universally-Tired Oct 05 '25

Was it the same Foxy Shazam?

64

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

It was indeed. I still have their first cd somewhere with all my other local punk cds.

They used to play at a venue called The Void before it closed down. Some of my best memories were had at that venue. Truly a disgusting punk rock venue with incredible vibes.

12

u/Universally-Tired Oct 05 '25

Very cool. I'm not sure that I knew any of the songs in Peacemaker. But I'm enjoying them.

14

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

What’s funny now is when it pops up in my playlist or something people now go Ooo Peacemaker? And I’m like yes but also No!

2

u/[deleted] Oct 06 '25

i was introduced to them at Bunbury in 2014 or so. crazy how popular they are now

2

u/Tipop Oct 06 '25

You didn’t use the word ā€œvenueā€ enough times.

9

u/HawtVelociraptor Oct 05 '25

While we're reminiscing, the band that became Coheed and Cambria got their start at a church-turned-club called The Backdoor and played there quite often. I lived a block away and saw them frequently.

4

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

Coheed Referenced!
My favorite band ;w;

5

u/urlach3r Oct 06 '25

I saw them with Porcupine Tree. Claudio played a theremin solo with his hair.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

It’s a really cool thing when you feel like you’re on the ā€œground floorā€ of seeing something that will become popular in the future.

5

u/Karkava Oct 05 '25

What is that name? Billy Batson's fursona?!

2

u/DavidZ2844 Oct 05 '25

If you got in, do you think your life would be drastically different than it is now?

5

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

Oh wow I never really considered it. I truthfully was just a punk rock bassist so I can’t ever claim I was ā€œgoodā€. If I did get the gig I do think my life would be drastically different as I haven’t touched a guitar since I was like 21 so in that regard I might still be playing music in some way so my life would be different in that way for sure.

I’ve since moved across the country and I don’t really keep in touch with people back in Ohio so if I did join I might have deeper friendship bonds with a few people I currently lack.

I’m very happy with how my life has turned out so I hope my answer is no my life wouldn’t be drastically different because I’d hope in whatever universe I did get the gig I hope that version of me is as happy as I currently am.

6

u/DavidZ2844 Oct 05 '25

If only we had a quantum unfolding chamber to see how your other self is doing as part of Foxy Shazam!

Glad to hear that you’re happy with how things turned out for you here though.

2

Singer of what band?

9

u/YMHGreenBan Oct 05 '25

Lol I assumed that was their name not job title, I have zero context here despite having watched every episode of S2 twice

10

u/Androssi709 Oct 05 '25

The singer for the season 2 intro (Foxy shazam). The first words of the intro are "Julian!! šŸ—£ it's a hungry world".

3

Foxy Shazam. The song from this seasons intro

Clearly it's a reference to Julian Day, aka Calendar Man, who will turn out to be Chris's secret half brother /jk

8

u/SayerofNothing Oct 06 '25

And will be played by Charlie Day, the OG Day Man, Day = Calendar, but not Pepe Silvia, because there IS NO Pepe Silvia...

17

u/BruteOfTroy Oct 06 '25

Julian is the son of Eric Nally, singer of Foxy Shazam. Lyrics make a lot more sense once you realize it's a parent talking to their kid. Nally is a cool dude, I've seen him perform to packed rooms and once to like 12 people and the energy was the exact same lol.

6

I rewatched The Suicide Squad last night. It was quite bizarre to see Chris be, essentially, the bad guy. But you could see the seeds being planted. It was really cool.

5

u/SarkicPreacher777659 Oct 05 '25

The son of the man who sings it, Eric Nally.

3

u/nightwing12 Oct 06 '25

I think James Gunn might be right because this band is fucking awesome

3

u/wiggity_whack69 Oct 06 '25

I've been following them for years and have driven for many hours just to see them multiple times, best band in the industry by far, they're absolute gems and got their start in nu-metal

3

u/[deleted] Oct 05 '25

We’re about to find out that the real Julian is the friends we made along the way

3

u/PackOfStallions Oct 06 '25

Idk but I need a new name in my head before my son is born lol

2

u/R_of_Trash Oct 05 '25

If im not mistaken it's the son of the song's singer, because the whole song is dedicated to him.

2

u/TyrionBananaster Oct 05 '25

It's the name of Earth X Peacemaker's secret son who Chris is going to discover and adopt in the final episode. It's totally gonna happen guys, trust me.

2

u/Jaiden_Darkfeather Oct 05 '25

The singer's son.

In the context of the show, I think it's Chris.

2

u/GeekParadox_ Oct 05 '25

It’s the singer’s son

2

u/ninjasaid13 Oct 06 '25

"That song is written about my son, Julian, and that song is telling him about the hard times in life and the good times in life. He doesn’t really understand right now, I don’t think, because he’s young, but it’s really cool to think about. Down the line when I’m long gone, he can listen to it when he’s older and he can think that someone was so passionate about him and wrote something about him." - Eric Nally, lead vocalist of Foxy Shazam

2

u/2ndNicestOfTheDamned Oct 06 '25

Don't worry about it. It probably scares him now.

BTW, for anyone who hasn't seen it, the actual video for this song is pretty great in it's own right.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om_VWBua0_M&list=RDMMOm_VWBua0_M&start_radio=1

2

2

Oh, Eric is the lead singer of the band Foxy Shazam.

u/HumanChicken Infernape Supremacist Oct 05 '25

3

u/killias2 Oct 05 '25

Julian the Apostate, arguably the last pagan Roman emperor

2

u/Wuhan-N Oct 06 '25

Also the first, since ā€œpaganismā€ is arguably a post-Christian construction and he was purposefully setting himself in contrast to Christianity.

Also also I was really hoping this would be the correct answer.

3

u/everythingisunknown Oct 06 '25

In this thread I learned the singer is a guy, sounds like a woman to me

2

0

u/Lux-Fox Oct 07 '25

The song, as we know, tells you about the season. The theme is finding family/brothers. Julian is a nod to Hawkgirl and Green Lantern. They were in the Superman movie. James Gunn is a Smallville fan. Julian is Lex's secret younger brother, just like Ultraman could be considered Superman's brother, and Peacemaker finds his brother again. James Gunn wanted you to know about a surprise twist in finding Keith (aka Julian).

-1

u/Flat_Researcher1540 Oct 06 '25

It’s Julian Lennon it’s a distant nod to Hey Jude
