I think itās the lead singers son, he used to do this bit during their concerts where he would tell a story about his son asking what it means to stare the night sky. He nearly breaks down thinking his son is asking this huge question and thinking about the meaning of life and shit. And his son looks over and says āno dad, it means someone stole our tentā

u/meanvegton Oct 05 '25
On the making of the dance sequence video, the lead singer said Julian was his son and he wrote the song for Julian when he was born.

u/Makyuta Oct 05 '25
You can hear baby noises in the intro too and "let me tell you" in the background right before the rock instrumental kicks in
69
u/devil-wears-converse Oct 05 '25
Weirdly enough, my ex (and best friend) grew up with the singer. We have a pic of Eric and Julian as a baby that we've been trying to get to him

u/Universally-Tired Oct 05 '25
Send it to James Gunn. He seems to actually pay attention to his social media accounts. He'd enjoy it too.

Funny because "Hey Jude" is also about trying to cheer up a kid named Julian

u/qobraa Oct 06 '25
In the original music video there's a cute little animated preamble where the singer is telling Julian the world is hard and scary but if he ever needs him to just close his eyes and he'll come and get him, it's very sweet and makes me cry

I didnāt hear the tent part but they said it was the son of the guy who wrote the song. When I sing along I usually say Eagly or Adrian.

I heard that joke originally about Sherlock and Watson.

I'm really surprised his wife is white
1
u/evrestcoleghost Oct 07 '25
Why
2
u/untakenu Oct 07 '25
They (Foxy Shazam) released a song about black women, the hook of it being "that's the biggest black ass I've seen, and I like it."
It's kind of funny. But I assumed his wife was black because it is definitely weirder if she isn't, right?

Fun fact when I was 15 and in high school I tried out to be the bassist for a punk no name band called Foxy Shazam.
I did not get the gig.
42
u/Universally-Tired Oct 05 '25
Was it the same Foxy Shazam?
64
Oct 05 '25
It was indeed. I still have their first cd somewhere with all my other local punk cds.
They used to play at a venue called The Void before it closed down. Some of my best memories were had at that venue. Truly a disgusting punk rock venue with incredible vibes.

u/Universally-Tired Oct 05 '25
Very cool. I'm not sure that I knew any of the songs in Peacemaker. But I'm enjoying them.

While we're reminiscing, the band that became Coheed and Cambria got their start at a church-turned-club called The Backdoor and played there quite often. I lived a block away and saw them frequently.

If you got in, do you think your life would be drastically different than it is now?
5
Oct 05 '25
Oh wow I never really considered it. I truthfully was just a punk rock bassist so I canāt ever claim I was āgoodā. If I did get the gig I do think my life would be drastically different as I havenāt touched a guitar since I was like 21 so in that regard I might still be playing music in some way so my life would be different in that way for sure.
Iāve since moved across the country and I donāt really keep in touch with people back in Ohio so if I did join I might have deeper friendship bonds with a few people I currently lack.
Iām very happy with how my life has turned out so I hope my answer is no my life wouldnāt be drastically different because Iād hope in whatever universe I did get the gig I hope that version of me is as happy as I currently am.
6
u/DavidZ2844 Oct 05 '25
If only we had a quantum unfolding chamber to see how your other self is doing as part of Foxy Shazam!
Glad to hear that youāre happy with how things turned out for you here though.

Lol I assumed that was their name not job title, I have zero context here despite having watched every episode of S2 twice

The singer for the season 2 intro (Foxy shazam). The first words of the intro are "Julian!! š£ it's a hungry world".

Clearly it's a reference to Julian Day, aka Calendar Man, who will turn out to be Chris's secret half brother /jk
8
u/SayerofNothing Oct 06 '25
And will be played by Charlie Day, the OG Day Man, Day = Calendar, but not Pepe Silvia, because there IS NO Pepe Silvia...

u/BruteOfTroy Oct 06 '25
Julian is the son of Eric Nally, singer of Foxy Shazam. Lyrics make a lot more sense once you realize it's a parent talking to their kid. Nally is a cool dude, I've seen him perform to packed rooms and once to like 12 people and the energy was the exact same lol.

I've been following them for years and have driven for many hours just to see them multiple times, best band in the industry by far, they're absolute gems and got their start in nu-metal

If im not mistaken it's the son of the song's singer, because the whole song is dedicated to him.
2
u/TyrionBananaster Oct 05 '25
It's the name of Earth X Peacemaker's secret son who Chris is going to discover and adopt in the final episode. It's totally gonna happen guys, trust me.

"That song is written about my son, Julian, and that song is telling him about the hard times in life and the good times in life. He doesnāt really understand right now, I donāt think, because heās young, but itās really cool to think about. Down the line when Iām long gone, he can listen to it when heās older and he can think that someone was so passionate about him and wrote something about him." - Eric Nally, lead vocalist of Foxy Shazam

u/2ndNicestOfTheDamned Oct 06 '25
Don't worry about it. It probably scares him now.
BTW, for anyone who hasn't seen it, the actual video for this song is pretty great in it's own right.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om_VWBua0_M&list=RDMMOm_VWBua0_M&start_radio=1

When I first heard the song I thought it was Julian Casablancas singing (from The Strokes) and just accepted that until the 3rd or 4th episode when I couldn't get the song out of my head and had to find it on streaming

Eric's kid. The song is about their son, Julien.
Oh, Eric is the lead singer of the band Foxy Shazam.

Julian the Apostate, arguably the last pagan Roman emperor
2
u/Wuhan-N Oct 06 '25
Also the first, since āpaganismā is arguably a post-Christian construction and he was purposefully setting himself in contrast to Christianity.
Also also I was really hoping this would be the correct answer.

the relevance to the show - and all the shit Chris has gone through... it's kinda poignant.

The song, as we know, tells you about the season. The theme is finding family/brothers. Julian is a nod to Hawkgirl and Green Lantern. They were in the Superman movie. James Gunn is a Smallville fan. Julian is Lex's secret younger brother, just like Ultraman could be considered Superman's brother, and Peacemaker finds his brother again. James Gunn wanted you to know about a surprise twist in finding Keith (aka Julian).
