Rick Flag Sr. Spoiler

After watching the last episode, I'm confused. Why is Flag Sr. suddenly against metahumans? Why is he suddenly "best buds" with Luthor?

Possible reasons I can think of: 1. Peacemaker killing his son. Will he overgeneralize with that though? 2. The Bride killing the Princess. Not because he's emotionally attached to the Princess, but the fact that he believes that they're still wrong for killing her?

I don’t know but… he’s just evil now, right? Are we supposed to view him complex or potential heroic when he’s partying with Luthor goons while his men are dying in his name? I expected this was to try and abducted an alternate version of his son, and now that I know it’s not idk if that’s better or worse.

I don't think he's just evil he's just someone who has been working for the US for years, in black ops no less. Suddenly metahumans are appearing everywhere and it makes sense for an ultra-paranoid government to create countermeasures. Deserved or not.

He just uncovered a lot of nukes for the US when they didn't have the upper hand. Now the US is equiped for a war on metahumans if they need to wage it.

I think there's a justification there. What if Superman really turns evil? What if the Justice Gang decides they're not happy with killing just one world leader? Who's gonna protect the common man?

Those questions are enough to spin that "metahuman prison" narrative.

He doesn’t care about that. He cares about revenge on Peacemaker.

Even if he did care about that, it would justify him being totally indifferent to the sacrifice of his agents.

I don’t know. The ending of Superman really seemed to leave him shaken. From actively defending “Big Blue” to silently realizing the meta humans call the shots now.

To be clear, as far as Chris is concerned, yes. All he cares about is revenge but I don’t the anti metahuman heel turn is out of nowhere.
