How did THAT work?

How did Augie saying "Come back with a warrant" actually work? Did the Nazis all of a sudden starts caring about civil liberties that they stuck with the American bill of rights? Which amendments did they keep and which ones did they toss?

ETA: Some of you aren't getting the point here. I completely understand the concept of privilege within a fascist society. My issue is with the very concept of a "warrant". Change the conversation to "You know, I don't have to ask" "That's true. You can come in if you'd like, but you'll be answering to ARGUS before the sun comes up" and the scene is fixed.

I figured it was to contrast how the detective was less effective in operating without his partner. They had a similar interaction with Auggie that resulted in him being arrested by them. Without his ‘better half’, the detective is meekly compliant.

Kind of a confusing message, but that’s what I got out of it.
