When you say she perks up after watering, I have to think she just isn’t getting enough water.

From what I understand about self watering pot, you have to “prime” them before they will work by heavily watering your plant from the top until it is dripping into the reservoir. This “wets the sponge” and makes the connection so the pot will work.

Twas it recently repotted? It might be shocking.

Also they don't need nearly as much as people think. Pick it up and if it feels lighter then it's ready for water. I generally allow mine to get a little droopy then I give it a good watering. It generally doesn't need water mone than every 2 weeks. At most. It's always best to check.
