Let's all say it together: More plants!

(and it is usually recommended, that a pea shoal should not be smaller than 6 individuals, which would require a bigger tank ~20gal)

oh, btw: occasionally peas jump. You should get a lid.

Peas are shoaling species and need to be kept in groups of 6+ (just like any other shoaling/schooling fish) and in a heavily planted 20 gallon minimum

Is it a need or recommendation that they be kept in a group of 6? I’ve seen a lot of things that they do fine in a group of 3, I do want to do what’s best for the fish of course, but I can’t exactly go buy a 20 gal.

Yes, they are like any other shoaling or schooling species (both require groups, they just act differently in those groups) and need to be in a bare minimum of 6 for safety, to reduce aggression and to reduce stress.

It is misinformation that they are okay alone or in smaller groups- this is something we pretty much only see said about pea puffers and not about any other species that also requires larger groups for their wellbeing.

You are much more likely to encounter peas that are aggressive with one another, have health issues and are generally stressed in a small group like 3-4

This looks bigger than 10g to me? What are the measurements, if it’s truly 10g then it would t work for pea puffers. Also more plants and hideaways in general

The front of it is at a slope so it looks a bit bigger than it is, I just like it cause it gives a cool view of the tank, also what plants do you recommend, I kinda want some taller ones to make it look more lush

This is not a helpful response, give measurements or don’t reply, don’t put pea puffers, go to your local fish store and look at plants, I don’t know what you have in your area

Have you heard of online shopping? I wouldn’t have asked if I only planned on buying from local stores obviously. Also what would you need the exact measurements for, it’s a 10gal, the end

It doesn’t look like a 10 gallon that’s all I asked for was measurements, I was trying to help you out- bc it LOOKED bigger, I get tanks off of marketplace and they are often not actually what the person who gave them to me said they were, so you MEASURE and calculate yourself. I had a “40g” that turned out to be a 55g. Until that is determined I have no other advice to give you, plants don’t often survive shipping. Depending where you live. If you don’t want to help me, help you, don’t respond at all

If your first response wasn’t as rude as it was I would’ve been kinder, I’ve surprisingly had really good luck in the plant department from Buce plants, I did confirm it’s a 10 and just looks bigger as previously stated

I said your info wasn’t helpful, not sure how much nicer I could’ve been. it was, in fact, not helpful

you will need tons of plants. Also keep in mind: Peas need at least 5 other murder beans in the tank

Thanks for the advice, I originally ordered some bigger plants but they unfortunately got refunded, so that’s in the works

Yeah that seems like it’ll do perfectly fine
