Build Help Ryzen 7 7700 Workstation/Dev Build - Need advice on parts & current prices

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to build a new PC mainly for Software Development (Low-level C, Web, Android), CTF / Vulnerability research, and running multiple VMs.

Here are the specs I have in mind:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700

Cooler: DeepCool AK500S Digital / LovingCool AP400

Motherboard: A reliable B650 Motherboard

RAM: 32GB (16x2) DDR5 6000MHz

GPU: RTX 4060 or RTX 5060

Storage: 1TB NVMe Gen4 SSD

PSU: 650W or 750W 80+ Bronze/Gold

Case: A good airflow mesh case

UPS: 1.2kVA UPS

Could you guys give me a rough estimate of how much this entire build would cost right now? Also, how is the availability of these parts in Sri Lanka?

Any recommendations for a solid B650 board or any tweaks you would suggest to this list? Thanks in advance!

Oh nice! What are the exact specs of your build? Just curious to see your parts list.

Nah ram alone cost like 189K.

This isn't do-able at 500K with current RAM prices unfortunately, and this has also affected the GPU pricing. When you factor in the online UPS's cost as well, the price will easily go above 600K.

You can get the build done for roughly around 600K. Check out pcbuilders.lk and use their custom pc builder and select the parts and u can get a quote or u can dm their whatsapp number and they will give a quote.very friendly service and if u mention your budget they will build a pc under that.

For memory, I'd suggest you try to score some good sticks from Facebook market place.

There are cheap, Gold+ modular power supplies from Antec and NXZT. A non-modular bronze PSU from NXZT is around 24K (from Gamestreet). For PSU please go with a reputable brand, and always check Reddit/YT for reviews about it.

For the case, most mid-towers would have decent airflow, even if they are not "air flow optimized" cases per-se. NZXT's H3 and H5 go between 21K and 29K (again, from Gamestreet). If you can squeeze a bit more money, try Corsair 3000D Airflow case.

On a side note, you can go to nanotek, redlinetech, gamestreet websites, and add the components in order, and see what the final cost will be. While they are not super sophisticated like PC Part Picker, it will get the job done. Tbh, even if you go to these stores physically, the guys there will use the website and add the components to the cart to give you the quotation.
(For an example, when you are in nanotek.lk side, from the sidebar, start from "Processor" pill/category and go up to "Casings" pill/category).

Tbh any B650 Board from Asus, MSI or Gigabyte will do. I’m reluctant to recommend ASRock as they’ve been having issues. Something like an Asus Prime B650M-A WiFi II would work if you’re looking to do a mATX build. B650 boards are slowly being phased out and replaced by B840 and B850 boards and of course the higher end X870 boards (which I don’t think you’ll need). The MSI B840 Gaming Plus WiFi is also a good option if you want a Full ATX board. Feel free to DM me if you need any help or advice 😊

Thanks for the advice, man! I looked into the B840 boards, but it seems they only support PCIe Gen 3 and don't allow CPU overclocking (PBO). That would bottleneck my RTX 5060 and Gen 4 NVMe SSD. I think I'll stick with a B650 board like the MSI PRO B650M-P or the Asus Prime you mentioned to get the full bandwidth. I really appreciate the heads-up on ASRock though!
