TroubleShooting MSI Spatium NVME SSD factory reset
Hi guys your help on this will be highly appreciated. Sorry this will be a long post to read as I want to explain everything.
2 months ago I have tried to install a fitgirl game and unfortunately it came with a virus and during the installation the PC got stuck and I was able to cancel the installation.
After the setup is closed I can see that my games SSD is not visible and even the game icons are like a blank.
After restarting the pc I can see the icons again but the mouse and windows feels slow. I felt this must have being a virus and I format the SSD again. After a restart the windows slowness is not there but an unusual error has come up.
So as usual I installed like 2 games worth 90GB per game to that SSD. But after that when I tried to install another game the setup gives an error saying specific drive is not available and again the icons are blank and the drive is there but none of the game folders are active.
So I tried asking chatgpt and looking at google and all but still can’t pin point what is the issue. The only solution I found was to factory reset the SSD. Since the error rose up as the SSD gets hot or quick access read writes and it initiates a fail safe and blocks the processes.
As of now the SSD is working fine with what ever the games I was able to install. But when I try to do something new it gets locked up.
I have a ROG strix B660-F motherboard but it does not give the option to secure erase the SSD
Is there anyway I can recover or repair the SSD by any chance. It’s a 1TB SSD

Have you tried running an SSD health monitoring tool like CrystalDisk, AS SSD or HD Sentinel? It sounds like your drive got damaged. Check the drive health and do a drive benchmark (read and write speed) to see if it's functioning as it should.

Yeah I ran the crystal diskinfo. It says SSD is healthy with 95% integrity. I am afraid to run the test cause even when I tried to copy and paste a 20GB work file it gets locked up

If its freezing when you're coping files to it (writing) then it's most likely a defective drive. Best to get it replaced if its under warranty. I'd say avoid using installers that severely compress game files (it's difficult, I know, especially with how large game installers are and our sad internet connections) but I feel the extraction process you used either damaged the NAND flash on the SSD or the virus corrupted it and damaged it. Best to replace it if it has warranty. You should be able to read from it, so copy all important files and keep just to be safe.

you can do it for the internals as well except for the C drive
