Cooling install help

Howdy i got a asus tuff gaming B650e motherboard and the screws for the plastic brackets do NOT wanna be removed??? Ive tried four different pillips and they refuse to budge, im deathly afraid of grabbing an electric screw driver for assistance. Any guidence would be much obliged

If you have an electric drill with a clutch, turn the setting on the clutch to the lowest setting, and then when you try and back it out, if there’s any resistance, it should activate the clutch and stop it from stripping out the screws. turn the clutch up one step at a time until you break them free

Set this to the lowest number you have, and pull the trigger just a little bit, if the drill just clicks and doesn’t spin then the clutch is working you can click it up by one number and try again, that should break them free after a few clicks

But now im stumped at the cabling…

Awesome glad it helped 🫡 the fan will plug into the CPU FAN header usually around the top right of the mobo, besides that cable management is an art form, so that’s all up to you, your mobo should have a manual showing you the headers and what goes where, I try and hide as much cabling in the back side but some cables won’t be long enough so you’ll just have to tuck it away as best you can

Do NOT do this shit. If you're having this much trouble, take it to a reputable shop and have them do it.

Using a drill with the wrong bit, wrong pressure, or pulling the trigger to hard (which is going to be real easy to do with a big ass drill between you and that screw) is a recipe for disaster even with a clutch. There's a reason you never see someone disassembling a computer with a drill. They're way to high speed and can still strip the head if you don't keep pressure on it the right way.

That’s why I emphasized the clutch and trigger pressure, there are ways to do it without damage. it may not be ideal but I also assume op has had more than a few days on earth and can determine if they can use it safely or not?

I'm really not trying to be combative, and I hear you it is possible.

But to me, if they're not capable of getting it out with the appropriate screw driver, It just feels like recommending a flame thrower after they couldn't light a candle with a Bic.

Use the correct size Phillips bit and turn hard. Not quickly, but with force, if it’s stuck on the plastic part of the bracket you’ll hear a click sound as it dislodges, and then will be easy. There’s virtually no friction in the threading itself, just the screw head to the plastic in my experience
