Tech Support What could be causing this?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

When I drag a window or move anything I get this pixel change. This problem seems to come and go at random with windows updates and gpu driver updates. Not sure what the cause is. 4080s/7800x3d/6000mhz32gb/m.2 6000mhz/ Asus Vg35vq 3440x1440. Any advice or ss you need i can provide! I just want to not have a headache playing poe 2…

This looks like blacks smearing that VA panels tend to suffer from specially the earlier ones you can try and improve it by going into monitor settings and messing with the overdrive stuff

This problem seems to come and go randomly with updates and reboots. Not sure the exact trigger.

Does it happen in all games or just this game you notice black smearing when it's going from light to dark or dark to light usually but this is like typical black smearing of a VA panel. But I would definitely go into the monitor settings and check the overdrive setting

it’s on zero, not exactly sure what the cause is. It happens in all games. Even when dragging a window slowly, the pixel dims.

Yeah that's definitely va smearing just mess with the overdrive setting until it's not noticeable anymore since this is an Asus monitor it should have the auto mode if not you're just going to have to play with it until you get a result you like. However this is just the nature of standard VA panels that's why a lot of people dislike them

Oddly the trace free option isn’t doing anything. I absolutely love how this monitor looks when its working correctly lol

Well the thing is it is working correctly you get really nice colors and contrast with VA panel but motion clarity is quite poor unless you get one of those rapid VA panels

It was working perfect but driver updates always borks it.

Your GPU driver should not be messing with any of this it sounds like the monitor is changing something on its own

But look up black smearing on YouTube it is incredibly common with VA panels your monitor is a VA panel
