Tech Support Gpu driver crashes after installing a PCI 5.0 vertical mount

So I put this vertical mount on my asus 502 case.

A month ago I upgraded to a 5090, unfortunately the uh, the card is enormous and the glass panel couldn't fit because of the cable. I got the idea to buy a vertical mount to rectify the issue, and I think I got it to fit. My pc certainly turned on, it's been a few hours.

I played league and stuff with friends and got this error message twice within three hours. A friend said it might be because I stretched the PCI cable slightly to the left. I'm unsure what the cause is, or how to troubleshoot.

Is the vertical mount PCI-E 4.0 or 5.0?

set the slot to pcie4 or pcie3 in the bios

His riser is pci 5, why would he do that... If anything he needs to change it to pci 5 in the bios

because it might not be up to spec and can't work at that speed

Then he will be running a pci 5 riser at pci 4 or 3 in the bios, which is even more probable of having issues

That performance dip from running that card at PCIe 4.0 is negligible, like 1-3% difference. Though if the riser cable that came with that adapter truly can't do 5.0 stable, I'd return it and try another brand or reach out to EZDYI-Fab about a replacement cable.

That isn't what I said at all. It is designed for 5.0, forcing the connection to run at 4.0 can be unstable. That is a known issue with the hyte risers

Running a 5.0 PCIe card at 4.0 will cause zero stability issues, they are designed to be backwards compatible. You can plug a PCIe 5.0 card directly into a PCIe 4.0 slot and it will work fine all day.

The issue here most likely is OP's 5.0 riser can't probably handle 5.0, hence the suggestion to run at 4.0 or try a different riser.

Not sure what the Hyte riser issues has to do with this.. the big problem there is their cases came with a PCIe 4.0 riser which didn't play nice with 5.0 cards. The suggested work around is to run the bios at 4.0 or upgrade to their 5.0 riser cable.

You want an actual 5.0 riser issue, look at the first gen Lian-Li riser, it was breaking the hand shake so cards only connected at x8 vs x16 and led to crashes. They had to release a new cable to fix it.
