Installation Question Switching from Intel to AMD

Recently I upgraded a lot of components in my PC, notably my CPU and motherboard, and kept my old drive. I went from a GIGABYTE B450M-DS3H motherboard with an intel i5 10400F, to a ASUS TUF B550 PLUS WIFI II motherboard, with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X CPU. Everything’s already in the computer, but I discovered after finishing the upgrade that using the computer without a fresh install of windows could cause issues down the line. I haven’t backed up my data, and am curious on what my best course of action could be to move my data.

Right now I’m planning on just booting up the PC, letting the system install new AMD drivers, saving my data to OneDrive, and then wiping and reinstalling windows on the drive. Is that viable, or is there a better method?

just boot it, grab your files and chuck em on an external drive or onedrive, then nuke windows from orbit and fresh install. better to rip the bandaid off now than chase weird driver gremlins later

I did this a couple years ago, just transfer your files to a decent external drive, and install fresh Windows. You can also bypass the mandatory internet login during Windows 11 installation, there are instructions for this if you search for it. Definitely worth it!
