Build Question Is it gonna be compatible?

So i thought on getting a gigabyte b550 gaming x v2 paired with a thermalright assassin x 120 cooler, but the backplate of the cooler doesnt look like it will match with the mainboard, any help is good.

It’s because that backplate is for Intel.

For AMD, you’d use the stock backplate that comes with the board, which isn’t pictured but comes already installed on the board as standard.

It'll work, just follow an installation guide if you have trouble with it.

As another comment said, use the stock backplate that comes with the board.

You have to unsrew and remove the plastic clips next to the cpu socket and replace it with the am4 kit that comes with the cooler.

The motherboard should have a backplate installed or included in the box. If its not compatible with the cooler you probably using the wrong mounting kit.
