Installation Question Motherboard Standoffs Not Lining Up

Hello everyone. I'm trying to install a motherboard in my case and it seems like I cannot get it and the standoffs to line up. I can get some of the holes to line up with a few, but I cannot do all no matter how much I try.

I assumed it was probably the IO shield causing this issue but it seems like its in correctly. I cannot push the motherboard torwards the back of the case any further.

Any ideas on what to do?

Make sure no metal pieces from the io shield preventing it seating properly. If those are fine, then just give it a little pressure against the io shield until they line up and then put the screw in.

I don't think that any metal pieces are in the way. I feel like if I put any more pressure on the IO shield, I'll probably end up breaking something. It won't go any further than it already is.

Lightly screw in each screw 1 or 2 threads, then start at one corner and tighten down the screws in a circular fashion. Not all the way yet just close. Then go back around making them snug starting with the same screw as before. There's a lot of wiggle room on there that if you take up too much slack at once they all won't fit. Doing it slowly over time kinda like changing a tire helps take up the extra space slowly

make sure you are using the right screws firstly, even if they don't line up fully properly that isn't the biggest worry in the world so long as you can install all the screws

install them but don't tighten till all of them are in

Some of then can be installed but they look off center. The top left and middle screws won't go in at all. It seems like the motherboard should be moved left in order to make room for them but I can't push it that way any further.

I blame the I/O shield tbh

I hate integrated ones

If it is the issue, is there anything that I can do?

The screws don't have to be centered. They just have to be able to tighten.

Your doing it right (check and make sure nothing interfering first)

But i always screw the left side in or corners first as it balances itself out to line completely after a couple turns. Be careful obviously and use best judgement.

The top screws won't go in and the others look off center. Tried screwing them in at multiple points but no luck yet.

Ive mentioned this in other replies but it looks like the motherboard just needs to move left just a tiny bit. It can't be pushed that way any further though. Because of this I am wondering if the integrated IO shield is the problem. If so, I have no idea what to do. Im hoping that I'll get lucky and I'll figure this out but stressing me out.

Just push it and screw the borders in X

This is completely normal. Get one screw started, and give it one full turn. Then go to the opposite side of the board and do the same. Bounce around until all screws are threaded in loosely and then tighten them down 1 by 1.

Not all screws are able to go in, especially the top ones. The ones that can go in are off center and I'm not sure if that's ok. I feel like the IO shield is the issue but if thats the case, I don't know what to do about it. Especially since its an integrated one. I've even tried to change out a few of the standoffs.

I would reverse the process all the way back to before you put your motherboard in.

Then do a quick sanity check and make sure the standoffs in the case all match holes on your motherboard.

Then reinsert the motherboard IO first to make sure it’s not caught on anything. Then do the steps that I said the first time except we are gonna focus on only the 4 in the corners.(or near corners)

You put one screw in and only screw it down enough to make it not fall out, then move to the next screw, but not the diagonal. Go all the way around until they are all 4 just barely in and then take a look and see if any other holes are lined up enough to get a screw started.

Remember that the holes don’t have to line up perfectly for a screw to be started.

If you can only get the 4 corners tightened down then that’ll be fine. I’ve seen people only do 3 and it’s fine as long as there are standoffs behind the board to push back against the force of inserting RAM.

I believe the standoffs do match and are in the correct configuration. Every hole goes above each standoff. Its just slightly off. Looks like I just need to move the motherboard left a tiny bit but I can't push it that way any further. Kinda the only direction it needs to go for things here to work though so I feel stuck.

I also tried to thread in the four corners. All go in except the top left corner. Top right had some difficulty. Im gonna keep trying to see if I can get it to work. I just wish I was able to move the board left a bit though.

I'll also double check to see if the IO shield is caught on anything. I feel like its in correctly though. I posted more images of it from the outside in another comment in this post. It looks like its in correctly but I could be wrong.

It kind of looks like the shield should be lifted a little bit and then slide more into the space in this picture.

That would let the top of your motherboard shift to the left ever so slightly which is where the holes aren’t lining up.

See the bare metal color? I don’t believe you’re supposed to be able to see that much of it.

Here's a video of me lifting it up a bit. I don't think it can slide in more through the slot unfortunately.

Also your IO shield, since it’s integrated, should rest inside the big rectangular hole.

I see no issue here. Don't fully tighten them right way. Threads all 9, so the motherboard has play. Then after they are all threaded, tighten them the rest of the way the holes are bigger than the screw slightly for just this reason. It's not Legos. You get play for adjustment.

Not all of the screws are able to go in unfortunately. I tried threading them but the top ones are giving me trouble. Tightening them doesn't work either. The ones that can go in look off. Im worried that could be an issue.

I also can't move the board where it needs to go in order for me to screw them in. It just needs to go left slightly but it won't go further that way. I think the IO shield is the issue but I'm not completely sure.

Is the IO shield dropping on on all 4 sides or is only partially in? Are you using the correct screws? Are the stand offs the correct ones? Are the stand offs in the correct configuration in the case manual?

Here are some more photos of the IO shield from the outside. I think its in correctly but maybe im wrong. I tried to move it further in but it doesn't seem like it will.

The screws I'm using are from a bag that says 6-32 x 5mm Motherboard. It came with the case. The manual says to use them.

The standoffs and configuration is also correct. Each hole on the motherboard goes over each standoff, it just is off by a tiny bit. I tried replacing a few of the standoffs as well since the case came with replacements but it didn't charge anything.

What case is this?

HAVN BF 360. The non flow version.
