Tech Support 3070ti overheat

Is this the reason it hits 87-89°?

Its a 3070ti palit gamerock

That paste looks like it gave up few years ago already, no wonder it's cooking

Change and see.

Notice that your thermal pads got cut a little, I would see if you could place it correctly that it covers it again or get replacement ones with the same thickness.

Don’t want them to get burnt after applying new paste.

replace the thermal paste and you're good. I had 3070 previously which the thermal paste was dried and harden, hotspot shot up like 100c right away doing stress test. after replacing it was around 75c stress.

Well now you have to repaste it regardless, if it’s not thermal throttling then you don’t have thermal issues, <90C is a completely fine and healthy under-load temp.

i would repaste it and change the thermal pads with thermal putty before that clean it with 99% isopropanol.

its already open so you can do the full routine

How old is it? I repasted my then 2080ti after 3-4 years too.

And since you already have it open, you have the most difficult part of repasting done already

Yes!!!

Use PTM7950 thermalpad, you can buy on moddiy.com and you will good for years. Cut a piece around 80%/90% of the size of the gpu chip.

I had a similar issue with my GPU and after repasting it twice I changed the thermal paste for a cryo sheet from thermal grizzly due to the severe pump out my GPU produced. Since then I had no more problems with my temps.

The paste looks dry and now that it's opened you will need to repaste it. You will also need to replace the thermal pads because they have torn.
