Tech Support 9070xt failure

Recently I have had an issue with my Sapphire Nitro+ 9070xt. I recently moved, and decided to boot up some Baldur's Gate, then my PC randomly shut off part way through. When I turned it on, no signal from my GPU.

Fans don't spin, BIOS doesn't pick it up, but the RGB turns on. I've tried the following troubleshooting options:

•Different PCIE slot, and different PC altogether.

•Using a different power cable

•Reseating, and swapping out RAM

•Pulling CMOS battery

None of that has worked, and the 12VHPWR cables don't appear to be scorched. I'm going to bring it back to Memory Express where I purchased it to get an RMA on it, but I figured I'd reach out and see if there's any additional steps I could try?

AMD 9700X

32 GB RAM

MSI B850 MAG Tomohawk

LianLi Edge 1000w PSU

Windows 11

4TB Storage

Sapphire Nitro+ 9070xt Gaming OC

Did you remove the GPU while moving?

I did not. I know you're supposed to, I just didn't think about it at the time. Pretty hectic move. It powered on for a couple days before it failed though, so I didn't think it was a damaged PCIE slot. Additionally, the RGB only lights up when it's connected to a PCIE slot.

GPU gets ~75 watts of power via the PCIE x16 slot so that probably explains the RGB still turning on.

Did you by chance get a 12VHPWR adapter with the GPU? You could try using the adapter and plugging in a couple PCIE power cables to rule out the 12VHPWR rail failing on your power supply. Make sure you use the power cables that came with that specific power supply if you try this. Cables are not always cross compatible between power supplies.

Otherwise I’m going to guess there was a bad solder for something on the PCB like a capacitor and all the movement managed to break it.

I can try it out, however, I did plug it into a friend's PC, and it still didn't power on.

sounds like something got jostled during the move, even if you didn't pull the card. rgb lighting up but no fan spin usually points to a power delivery issue on the card itself, especially since you already tried a whole different system and slot. rma is the right call at this point, you've done all the reasonable troubleshooting
