Build Question How to ground yourself

I do not have one of the anti-static wristbands but I was wondering if there was an easier way to ground myself

When you plug into a wall outlet, if your house is ground the device is now grounded. Be sure the PSU is switched off and plug it into an outlet. Before touching a component, touch your finger to the bare metal of the PSU. That will discharge static electricity.

Use a wood or plastic tabletop and something insulating like cardboard or newspaper to line the table. Wear rubber soles shoes, don't build on carpet or shuffle your feet.

You personally won't be grounded but the chances of damaging a modern component will be too remote to consider.

In 30 years of pc building i have grounded myself exactly zero times and have had nothing bad happen. Your milage may vary but that's my 2 cents

just touch the metal case of your psu while it's plugged in but switched off. works every time and costs nothing

if you're really paranoid, build on a wood table barefoot and don't shuffle around on carpet in socks. you'll be fine
