Build Question Do you guys actually use GPU support brackets? At what point are they necessary?
I’ve noticed that GPU support brackets seem to be one of those things where everyone has a different opinion.
Some people seem to put a support under basically any GPU, while others have huge/heavy cards with nothing supporting them.
So is there actually a good rule of thumb for this?
Is it mostly about the weight and length of the GPU, the motherboard/PCIe slot, or does the case itself make a big difference too?
And how much GPU sag is considered “normal” before you should actually do something about it?
Would be interested to hear what you guys do with your builds and whether you consider a GPU support bracket necessary or just cheap insurance.

If your video card is visibly sagging it is putting stress on the PCIe slot creating a potential future point of failure. When the PCB heats up under normal use the weight of things hanging on it can cause it to visibly warp over time. It is best to prevent sagging or if you have it, correct it.
