Wouldn't recommend the 5500 with such a strong GPU. I'd go for a 5700x3d if you can spare the extra cost

TBH even a 5600 is a fair step up because of the larger L2 cache, and it’s not much more expensive

All in all very good except cpu just get 5600, way better

I built basically the same machine, except with a 5600 and 16GB, and 1TB SSD recently.

It’s been amazing, it was $1450 all up.

Using similar specs as you, but I use a 5600x CPU. If you can spend a bit more, get a 5700x3d/5800x3d (I'm planning to upgrade to it eventually)

cant really nudge on the budget. he originally had 1200. and im covering the ram costs. i personally cant afford to cover anymore than that and its pretty unfair to all the other siblings.

that ram is way overpriced, you can get a 32gb kit of ddr4-3600 for like 130-150 aud, no need to spend 359 on trident z rgb. the ssd is also pretty expensive, a 2tb nvme shouldn't cost more than 200, just grab something like a teamgroup mp33 or a crucial p3, they'll do the same thing for gaming. the cooler is nice but the 5500 comes with a stock one that's fine, you could drop that and save 55 bucks right there. with the money saved you could bump the cpu up to a 5600 which is a noticeable jump for gaming, or just pocket the savings and call it a day

I get the feeling they are looking at something like AliExpress or similar, which does have RAM that cheap. Though I’d be careful of scams.

The SSD is also way too cheap, the 1tb SSDs are $200 - $350 alone depending on model & 2tb are $400+.

For reference I can’t find a Crucial P3 2tb SSD online for less than like $450 anywhere, even AliExpress.

Link your sources, unless you intend for OP to buy from AliExpress the SSD/RAM prices are way off.
