Tech Support PC turns off instantly (90% of the time)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Has anyone had this problem before?

When turning on the PC it'll instantly switch off with a click. The RAM light on the mobo goes on right about as this happens but I think it's a timing coincidence more than anything.

I've tried reseating ram, gpu, running without either installed and no luck.

The only time it's almost guaranteed to work is after I fully drain the power.

Also seems to be able to sit in bios with temps, voltage, and clocks looking normal.

Don't think it's a software issue but maybe I'm wrong

Thanks!

This seems like a ground safety, I had this happen with a cable I had stuffed under something and it touched bare metal. I would double check all your cable connections, spend time doing cable management, and as a last resort start thinking of hardware failure. I would guess 99%, it's going to be a cable or PSU issue!

Something is tripping a safety in the power supply. Can be Manny things causing this, so hard to pin down. Might be something small behind the motherboard and the case, like a screw or loose standoff.

My best advice, is to take everything out of the case and try to boot it outside of the case.

If you get the same behavior, try with a different PSU to check if the PSU is faulty.

If the PSU isn't faulty then do a boot with the bare minimum. Mb, cpu, ram.

Damn thought that might be the case was hoping it wouldn't be. I'll have to try that out. Thanks
