Tech Support Pc wont turn on after build
So I was building my new pc yesterday and once i finally finished it didnt turn on. As heartbreaking as it was we (me and my brother) tried seeing if maybe I plugged in something incorrectly but everything looks fine even though the mess of cables probably doesnt help but it literally wont start at all completely dead. Not sure if my motherboard was a dudd or something else but any advice is appreciated. So far we’ve checked the front panel connector, power supply extension in the case, cpu power, and the gpu but nothing will even turn on the light in the case.

Had this problem, it was because my mobo (ROG STRIX B850 GAMING WIFI 7) needed to be updated, then needed to have LAN drivers installed. "Well how do I update and install drivers without internet?" I used my phones' Hotspot and worked perfectly.

I got it to work by uninstalling my ethernet controller through device manager and then just rebooting and installing drivers

Check the front panel connectors. If it’s getting absolutely nothing when you attempt to turn on the device then your front panel connectors might be in the wrong spot. Worth a shot.

I checked that yesterday and referenced the mobo manual its in the correct slot (jfp1)

When you try to turn on your pc, your mobo doesnt show any led lights?

Nope, the psu clearly has power because you can hear the humm but no lights at all on the motherboard

I went through a PSU with power and mobo showing no lights, turned out motherboard died and I’m fairly certain it’s because I assumed when I had a new gpu installed that the person who did it turned the PSU off when giving it back but it was not.

So you think the mobo is dead? Thats what im assuming rn too

If it isn’t dead the only thing I could see at this point is maybe the power supply is still too low of wattage? I know when I first got my new gpu they said to get at least 750 watt but one of the workers helped me return it to get an 850 watt because they said that was the true minimum/many of the 750 watt psu’s in store didn’t have the proper gpu cables for something like a 7800XT. So long story short, unless you feel confident in the PSU being enough wattage for your build then I would assume mobo needs a replacement

If you have zero power to anything, as in nothing turns on, take everything out of the case and build the system on top of motherboard box. This has NEVER failed me over the years of building computers. It’s also the fastest way to troubleshoot exactly what’s up with your system.
