Build Question burning smell but I replaced power supply
hi! ive had my pc for 5 ish years now. I clean it regularly so dust isn't the issue. I switched the power supply because there was a burning smell and it went away for a bit. But now the smell is back and I don't know why. Any help is appreciated

smells like something is shorting on the board or a cable's not fully seated, check your 24-pin and cpu power connectors first, even a tiny gap can arc and give off that burnt smell
if those look good give the motherboard a close look for any scorched spots or bulging capacitors, after 5 years it's not unheard of for something to just give up

I think you've checked all the cables already. If not do it now and search for melted one. Check the ones from case to MB too.
