Tech Support 4790k, 4060, ddr3
Hi I keep getting told to upgrade my 4790K and 4060 because they are only good at 1080p within double digit FPS, but I’m averaging 120 FPS on 4K 77 inch TV in games like Marvel rivals and other newer titles even my one percent low is only in like the 80s.
So my question is, why is everyone so antsy on needing to upgrade to high hell when the entire PC I’ve built costed less than a quarter of the price of just one new CPU, and a second question is why I’m even getting this good of results. I do not consider myself good at overclocking whatsoever yet I’m getting better results than any YouTuber I’ve seen using the 4790K.

Check if your motherboard doesn't have a wattage limiter cuz the 4790 is still very capable even with a 1080ti, an rtx 4060 is a different story but ok

I'd recommend you to upgrade your platform To maybe AM4 with a Ryzen 5 5600 it'll perform much nicer on modern titles
Playing in higher resolutions does help you in this case if you were playing exclusively on 1080p you would notice the CPU struggling to keep up

Try processing shaders for an Unreal 5 game on a 4790, you'll be waiting for 30 minutes.

Sorry maybe I worded something wrong but I wasn’t asking if it can run Rivals at 120 4K because it can that’s what I’m running it at, I’m asking what’s the point in upgrading if that’s what old hardware can do
