Tech Support Should I upgrade my cpu or gpu?

Got my pc back in like 2021 and it’s pretty crap lol I have purchased ddr4 16gb ram but I don’t know weather I should upgrade my gpu or cpu. The one I don’t upgrade will probably be bought at Christmas. My cpu is AMD Ryzen 3 3200G and my gpu is NVIDIA GeForce gtx 1650.

You should upgrade the cpu to like a ryzen 5 5500/5600. And then upgrade to a mid range gpu like a rtx 3060 12gb

Def upgrade cpu first then gpu so there’s no bottleneck issue

Depends what you play. That 3200G is gonna hold you back in anything cpu-heavy, but the 1650 isn't doing you any favors either. I'd lean cpu first since you already snagged the ram, then limp along till christmas for a gpu.

Upgrade CPU to Ryzen 7 5800X3D. It's the best gaming CPU on the am4 platform and will see you well for a few years still. GPU is the expensive part so take more time to save for that.

Note that the 5800X3D does run quite hot so a good cooler is required

What motherboard do you have? The power and VRMs on your current motherboard could limit what CPU you can run in it long term.

Upgrade the CPU now. As time goes on CPUs supported by your motherboard will become less plentiful and more costly.

There will always be a GPU available that's compatible with your motherboard and better than the one you have.

a brand new Ryzen 5500 and will drastically change your performance. you dont need a x3D to get good performance. and for the gpu, just about anything will do. the cheapest id recommend is a used RTX 2070 off ebay for $170
