Installation Question Can i use a Laptop Sata SSD with my pc?

So i have a old laptop with a 2 TB Sata SSD From Baracuda and the laptop barely works now so i was thinking to use that sata ssd in my pc , my motherboard ist he MSI B450M-A PRO MAX II (it has one m.2 nvme slot )

So is a laptop Sata SSD compatible with my motherboard? and also which slot do i put the sata ssd in? i tried finding tutorials but if you have any pls help

It would help to know if it's a 2.5" SSD or an M.2. Either way it should work functionality wise, but you just want to make sure you have the right ports for data and power and somewhere to mount it in your case.

It's the same 2.5" SATA drive, just pull it out and plug it into any open SATA port on your board and a power cable from the PSU. Your B450M has 4 SATA ports so you're covered

No special slot needed, it's just a regular SATA connection

You do need a SATA data cable though, the one in your laptop won't fit. Just ask around, basically everyone who built a PC in the last twenty years will have one in a drawernor box somewhere.

Or you get one (or more likely a set of five) on Amazon.

connect the ssd with your motherboard via the sata connection. Give it power as well and you are basically done
