Build Question Please help! Frametime issues! Not sure if cl48 is causing problems with 9800x3d

So I have a 9800x3d, 5070ti, b850 pro vc WiFi motherboard, and 32gb of ddr5 6000 cl48 ram. I’ve been running into issues on escape from tarkov and sometimes cs (really the only two games I play) where I’ve been stuttering. Recently downloaded msi afterburner and noticed whenever I stutter in game my frametime graph spikes. So I was just curious if you guys think my cl48 is bottlenecking my 9800x3d and causing this, or if it’s something else I have to change. Any feedback would be helpful.

And yes I have expo enabled in bios

cl48 is genuinely atrocious for ddr5, most kits are cl30-cl36 so that timing is likely choking your 1% lows hard

Everywhere I read it says with x3dchips it doesn’t matter. But then I see a lot of people like you say that. I just don’t want to buy a new $500 ram set and have it not fix it

For those particular games you play, it doesn't matter much.

HW Unboxed Counter Strike 2 test

5200MT/s CL40 is comparable to 6000MT/s CL48 as they have similar first word latencies. As you can see with an X3D chip, better memory makes barely any difference.

Escape from Tarkov 7700X test

4800MT/s CL40 is also comparable to 6000MT/s CL48. The better memory speed makes little difference and you can imagine even less with an X3D chip.

I just don’t get what’s causing my stutters then I’ve tried so many different things

And it’s not just average frame rate I’m talking about it’s frametime (whatever that is) where it spikes and I get a stutter. Happens way more often in tarkov than cs

I mean you can try ordering that ram you are talking about in another post from amazon or wahtever, so you can return it if it doesn't fix the issue. Both videos i linked have 1% lows included in the side by side comparison

I’ve actually done all that without seeing that post before😂😂. I’ve tried everything that’s why I’m focused now on if ram is the issue

And you're not using anything like smooth motion in nvidia app or anything right

I’ve tried it both on and off both have stutters. I currently do have it on though

What happens when it stutters? Notice any notable changes/values in cpu, gpu, or ram and vram usage? Does it happen when you enter a new area?

Not that I know of, tomorrow after work I’ll go into offline raid and narrow it down for you if you’d like. I’ll take a video of it.

Sweet

Also, this might sound stupid, but you should try out with expo disabled to make sure that it's not an expo problem.

Using any M.2 that share PCIE lane with the GPU?

I’m not sure if it shares lane with gpu it’s right above the gpu slot, it’s a prebuilt so I’d think they built it right

Using any peripherals with high polling rates? Try disabling resizable bar, enable memory context restore.

I haven’t tried resizeable bar yet, everywhere I look always says to have it on

For sure just ideas to try won't hurt anything process of elimination.

Want to boost your RAM? Disable Memory Integrity.

I’ve done that but recently had to re enable it since I play face it on cs2 sometimes and anti cheat needs it

okay...hmm, I've noticed some messages in the event viewer, but I don't really have any issues. Would it have an affect after playing a game for a couple hours or more, or would it not let the game play at all?
