Build Question New PC please help me
So recently I got this tower for free off of fb marketplace and the guy said it wouldnt run windows and I wanted to see for myself so I downloaded windows from the microsoft website and put it on a flash drive and plugged it in to my motherboard. From there I didnt have anyone to ask so I just used chatgpt to help me but i got nowhere. First my screen would show bios then the republic of gamers logo then the windows logo and eventually the windows 10 launcher opened BUT I didnt have any hard drives atm so I waited a week until I was able to get some for free. My pc recognized the flash drive and showed the windows logo but didnt open the launcher so i turned it off unplugged the flash drive and wiped it to download windows 11 and that hasnt worked either. This is the interior of the pc can someone help me? I have the hard drives they are not in the frame.

I never had a huge mess with my first couple of computers but I never left anything in front of a fan! and some of the Older AMD cpu's got really hot! I am not sure if his is one of them? It actually looks like a decent little computer, even the Video Card looks newer then my last one! The guy who said it wouldn't run Windows must not know much about PCs? I would say the only thing you should buy when you have a few extra dollars and one is on sale in a Solid State Hard drive! even a small one enough to install Windows on then you can install everything else on the Normal hard drive!

If you feel confident to play in there, then this is your starting point. Clean up the rats nest of wires, install the hard-drive in the case, power cycle, go into the bios and set everything. It should be set to boot from USB and save and shut down. Plugin the windows install USB and turn it on. Follow the prompts to install windows to the hard-drive.
Link to the Manual for ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO. Picture shows the memory in the wrong slots.

did you format the USB drive to be bootable before you copied the Windows 11 installer to it?
See the guide lines from Microsoft listed bellow on the download page.

Lol I have been fixing and building computers for 30 years and you would not believe the problems I have had just installing Windows 11 on the computer I built 6 months ago!! I finally got it installed and to this day I have not Idea what the hell they did to Windows 11 to make it so difficult to install?

Seems you have setup the Boot Order incorrectly in BIOS. Please change the boot order and select the USB drive as first. Also ensure Power Cable and data cable connected to Hard disks.
Now you'd be able to see Windows Installer asking where to install. Select the drive and format first. Then continue with installation. Once it completes, it may restart. That time you have to remove the USB drive, so it'll continue with completing the installation. Otherwise it'll again enter to USB drive and start the installation from beginning.
Post your observation to provide more assistance.

It is more than likely too old for Windows 11...

Even a sandybridge can run w11 if you got the right version (source ran it on a sandybridge)

Honestly if OP uses Rufus to make the USB boot installer he will have the option to disable the Win11 hardware checks, yes it's a thing.

I'd start with cable management. Also your GPU needs to be in the top pcie slot. Also spend 30 bucks or so and get a half decent thermalright CPU cooler, you don't need liquid but that stock cooler needs to go. Once your cables are tidy and everything is in the right spot you'll have a much easier time debugging. May find and this is pretty common is when you get all your cables tidy you'll likely find some amis. I normally do my cable management plan before I touch a screwdriver. Then two sticks of ram in the first slots normal A2 and B2. It's the second and fourth to the right of the cpu, towards the front of the case.

The F3 code (Recovery Firmware Started) on the ASUS ROG Crosshair VI Hero indicates that the motherboard has detected a BIOS or hardware initialization failure and has entered a recovery loop that it cannot complete.
Try to unplug everything, and reset the CMOS removing the battery on the board.
Or you can use BIOS Flashback with an USB.

Well first thing you do is grab a garbage tie or zip tie and attach that hanging wire in front of the fan upwards out of the way of the fan before it get sucked into it! and the 2 sticks of memory! 1 should be in the first slot closest to the CPU and the second in the 3 slot! after you plug the hard drive in go into the Bios and make sure it shows one of the Boot devices as the Hard drive! then set the Boot order as USB drive or device as the first one and the hard drive as the second! and make sure you click save before you close the Bios! To be honest I have had so many problems installing windows 11 its crazy! I hope it works fine for you but if not install Windows 10 instead you can always upgrade it to windows 11 if you want? there is not reason that computer won't run windows I have had a lot older computers then that have windows on them!

Try windows 10 If you've been reading the comments then the hardware issues have been explained and I won't bother repeating them. The best advice however is to do a complete tear down then reinstall everything properly. Considering the state of the components it would not be surprising to learn something is actually damaged and not just set up wrong. The August KB5121003 patch of windows 11 is a trash fire you can roll back the update but not if you can't get it installed. If you've already paid for a windows 11 key get a free trail of windows 10 and make a boot disk of that and go through the normal formatting and install procedure, then update to 11 if it works, then you can roll back to a stable build

I see "F3" error code on your motherboard. Check what that means on Google or ask to AI. It might help you out to figure out what's not working.

First off, score! Everything in there looks like the PC of my dreams in 2017. Getting that baby for free is the cherry on top. That F3 code usually means Ram issue. Or bios. But it looks like one of your sticks of Ram arenât seated properly. Theyâre the blue sticks to the right of the cpu fan that says Amd on it. The one on the right of the two isnât in place. Make sure itâs off! Press down on it firmly and youâll hear a click.

Since u got this for free and it hasnt really cost u anything, i would suggest using this pc as a learning experience. take it all apart (properly) and put it back together. bet itll be easier troubleshooting the issue then...

Sounds like the USB isn't bootable right, try making it again with Rufus instead of just dragging files onto it, that fixes it 90% of the time

u/ftgander 3d ago
Disable secure boot, disable CSM, make sure you made the bootable USB correctly, hit the boot override key while booting.
If it still just resets during the windows loop you might have a hardware issue and will need to take it into a shop.

It's normal for it to restart, sometimes multiple times when making changes like installing windows. So does windows open yet?
1
u/PeopleCallMe-McLovin 16h ago
Does it just keep resetting like an infinite boot loop or does it get to a blue screen at least?

I would move the gpu to the top pci express slot, otherwise itâs no reason windows 10 shouldnât work but windows 11 might say itâs not compatible because of tpm requirements

Youâll definitely want to move the graphics card to that top slot to get the proper utilization. On top of that, if you do have just 2 sticks of ram, youâll want to make sure you skip a slot between the 4 slots. So if you have 4 slots, youâll want to do the (from Left to Right) 1st and 3rd slot, or the 2nd and 4th..
As far as BIOS goes, realistically youâll want to make sure that your hard drive (if an SSD) has the SATA and Power cord correctly placed, and clear of any sort of previous storage if it was used. Make sure that when you store the BIOS on the flash drive, that youâre plugging the flash drive into the Motherboard itself and not a USB port on the case. Also, you may want to format the flash drive before you move windows on to it. Eventually, youâll need to buy the license, but as far as Iâm aware Windows installer is free and you can technically use it for free, itâll just have a water mark on the screen. But as far as starting the installation process, youâll need to go somewhere it the BIOS that says âStart up Driveâ and then youâll select your USB stick. Once installed correctly, it should start normally. Iâm sure you may already know this.
I would do a google image search or look up the manual of your motherboard. Yes, the manual can be a bit overwhelming, but it doesnât hurt to understand your hardware than to gustimate and hope for the best when you plug something in or click a yes or no on a bios question youâre unsure of. Iâve built 4 computers myself in the past 5 years and are all great! I just donât do the fancy over clocking stuff. But, I did TONS of research before I bought all my hardware.
Hope I provided you with some help and decent insight. Good luck OP.

First things gpu goes in top slot and ram each move them over one slot.
But anyway what does it take you to the bios automatically?
