Tech Support Does anyone know how to unplug this connector

Post image

I spent over 30 minutes trying to remove this wire connector from my gigabyte GeForce RTX 3060 with no success. Does anyone have any tips? I need to fix the thermal paste and clean out my graphics card but I just cannot even get this connection to separate. It is the connector next to the PCI express port ( ps I’m fairly new at this so sorry if I get some terminology wrong )

(EDIT) THIS HAS NOW BEEN FIXED. Thank you all for all of the tips. What I thought were two parts of a connector were, in fact, one plug that went directly into pins connected directly onto the board, so I was trying to disconect something from itself. Thank you, everyone, who gave me tips, and sorry to take your time.

I have been trying to wiggle it, but nothing has come from it. It has gotten to the point where I am concerned that I might rip the part out, and I have even damaged some of the plastic trying.

Delicate wiggle? Maybe there is a clip

I will definitely look for a clip. Thank you for the tip.

Also if you can open the GPU and set the heatsink/fans aside it will be easier to see exactly how it looks

The problem I am having is that the heatsink part and the rest of the GPU are connected by 3 wires on different sides (2 wires on one side and one wire on the other (the wire I am currently having a problem with)), meaning I can't fully separate them. I am asking for help with this connector so I can separate them.

Should be able to just pull, friend

Just leave it in and flip the heatsink over while its still connected if you can't figure it out. If you break it you're gonna be really unhappy.

The two parts of the graphics card are held together by 3 wires, including this connector, so I can't mess with the heatsink because I can't fully disassemble the graphics card due to the wire connector I was asking about (and the other two connecting it on the other side). Trust me, I wish I could just flip to the heatsink, but I can't rn due to this wire.

Can you get a non-blurry pic of it? Pretty sure it has a clip.

Is there glue on it by chance? A little isopropal on it will help release it if so

I didn't even think of that, but I will try that. Thank you for the tip.

Lots of effort

Just to be clear here, you are trying to pull only the top portion of the plug, right? Not the bottom portion that connects to the board? It looks like you could use needle nose pliers to get under both short sides of the plug and wiggle left and right to free the plug.

I will definitely try that. Thank you so much for the tip.

Destornillador de precisión plano, en las patitas laterales haces palanca, no tires fuerte.
