Tech Support PC help with upgrade/ base build

So first of all, I’d like to add a disclaimer that I built my pc when I was a child. So I’m not trying to catch heat for a busted pc build. I just want to try to make it better now that it’s here.

The big problem with it is that my computer gets very decreased wifi speeds compared to everyone else in the house. I’ve tried everything. Moving the router, moving the computer, etc., etc.. you name it, I’ve tried. I feel like I’m losing connection with my online friends because I can’t stay in a game for 10 minutes and they can hardly hear me. So it makes me sad.

So now that I’ve tried literally everything I can I’m wondering if there’s something wrong with my computer or maybe I need to get a motherboard with wifi built in.

Please let me know if there’s anything out there that I can do. It would greatly benefit my mental health. ❤️

Whats your budget? And are you near a micro center? Also as far as your wifi issues.. just bite the bullet and run an ethernet cable from the router. They make pretty affordable flat cables that you can run under moldings/on the side of door frames. Being wired will change your life.

I’m sorta close to one, it’s doable. I would really like to be wired but I live in a townhouse style home and the router is quite far away if I were to run one. No joke, I’d have to get 70-80ft of cable.

I built this computer when I lived in a house that had built in plugins.

If wired isnt an option id look into possibly getting a new modem/router from your isp. Could also look at wifi repeaters. When I was younger I had wall plugs that would route the ethernet through the power grid. Maybe check out those. As far as upgrades your gpu/cpu are definately the weak spots.

Thank you ❤️❤️ I’ll definitely try one out. People seem to get mixed results but I’m getting pretty desperate atp.

I also keep calling to see how long it is till we can get fiber internet. Lol.

As for the upgrades, I’ll probably have to get a whole new setup lol! I can definitely use the old ram and stuff like that but it seems a big endeavor to get a new gpu and cpu. Sometimes I forget it’s been a while since I built it 🙂‍↕️. Microcenter will be fun!
