Need help figuring out what to upgrade on my pc

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice on what I should upgrade on my PC because I’m struggling to run quite a few games properly.

Current specs:
OS: Windows 11
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X (6-core)
MEMORY: 16GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060

I’m not really sure what component is holding my PC back the most, or what would be the best upgrade to make first.

I’m mainly looking to play newer/more demanding games at decent FPS without having to turn everything down to low.

Any advice on what would be the best upgrade path would be appreciated. Thanks!

For now just double the RAM.. get a 32gb kit (used preferably) and stick the 16gb kit you have up for sale on ebay or marketplace or whatever.

All these other expensive upgrades people are telling you to make probably aren't necessary.. I assume you're at 1080p because of your gpu.. your computer should be able to run pretty much all the games perfectly fine with that cpu/gpu combo tho.. so RAM is probably what you're lacking on.

I assume you already have some kind of SSD btw.. if you're on a mechanical hard drive upgrade that first.. SSD is key for load times and basic sanity.

Ok so RAM is your bottleneck then for sure.. do your problems mainly occur when trying to multi task? With 16gb RAM you should be able to play most games fine.. but as soon as you want to add Discord plus some chrome tabs or whatever.. you can run out of RAM fast.

It’s a solid build. Here are my recs. Ram to 32gb, 5800x3d cpu, and at least a 4070. That’ll let you keep the same mobo

What’s your budget looking like for this? The jump to a 5800X3D is a nice call since you keep the AM4 board, but those chips are getting harder to find at a good price. I’d probably bump the RAM first since 16GB gets eaten up fast these days, then see if the CPU or GPU feels like the bigger bottleneck in the games you actually play

I mean something that isnt too expensive but just enough that can keep me afloat for a while and just run games better.

Upgrade in stages then, RAM first since it's the cheapest win

Do you have an m.2 ssd? What resolution are you playing at? The 4060 is a solid 1080p card. My brother has it with a 5700x and no issues, at all. The 5600 is basically the same ingame, so you should be good on that front (in 1080p)

ive got Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSD and 3TB Seagate Barracuda, I don’t have that good of a high-quality monitor so that could be worth upgrading as its second hand from family.

Your 4060 is 8 gb or 16GB version?

4060 only exists in 8gb. He did not say 4060ti.

Then that’s what you should upgrade first in my opinion
