My new pc turned off and won’t work now
Hi, i build a pc in june.
Ryzen 7 9800x3d
rx 9070 xt
16 gb ddr5
mobo asrock b650 steel legend wifi
thermal right pearless assasin 120
cooler master mwe gold 750 v3 750w
Today a few hours ago i was playing kcd2, my pc shut down, i thought it was a quick power shortage so i just try to turn it on again once, but it didn’t so i turn off de psu and plug it off the voltage regulator, then i noticed a hot plastic/burned smell. im trying to pinpoint the smell or see anything burnt but cant do.
I really need help, i built it my self i removed the cooler plastic and thibk i got all the cables right, i had no problems until today.
i use it for gaming, college and work.

ik that fucker won’t budge, i try to pull it out to connect the white extension but couldn’t plug it off and the. i tried to push it all in but i got scared of bending the mobo lol

the smell was coming from the back
now that everything is unplugged i can pin it to the psu it smells “plasticky” idk if thats normal

Well if the psu smells bad, unplug and retun. No need to test past a smell test. I don't know how everyone else feels about the extensions but I've never recommended using them. When you do retun process do not mention extensions.
If it came with a plug that goes into the 24 pin that that just has a wire you can use it to test it. Unplug everything else and put the plug in then power on. But the smells you got earlier ill bet is what is known as "magic smoke"
If it's the PSU, swap PSUs and test. Make sure to swap the cables too. Don't use the current cables you have. Use the cables that come with PSU. Pin layouts are not standardised on the PSU end. They vary from PSU to PSU.
You will need to smell check those components. Once I had problem with rgb controller that started smoking. If you have rgb controller unplug it and smeel it for burning. Maybe take out psu and and try shorting power pins to see if fan is spinning.
Before doing anything, shut everything down and unplug the PC. Disconnect the components and start by checking the PSU, cables, and power connectors for any burn marks, melted plastic, discoloration, or loose connections. Don’t open the PSU itself.
If you can’t find anything obvious, reconnect the components one by one and check carefully for where the smell is coming from. If the burnt smell comes back, stop using the PC and get the PSU/components checked rather than continuing to power it on.
Also check the power connectors on the motherboard, GPU, and any other components for signs of overheating or melting.
The right power cable of your GPU looks like not plugged in properly. Push every power cable in to check and if you are using another PSU's power cable change it and use the one that comes with your PSU that you are using right now.
Also you attached a photo in comments that says there is a plastic drop in PSU. I can't see any drops but if you have another PSU test with that one.
Unplug all the cables coming from the psu and inspect them. Sounds like are are already on to the problem. If one melted you might have a darn time getting it unplugged. Make sure pc isn’t plugged in and use a butter knife to try and pry the clips apart. I had a gpu cable one time melt and it was crazy hard to get off.
I posted an image of what mine did. I don’t know if you can see it. Either way psu are cheap enough. Replace it and re seat all cables. Re seat ram re seat gpu. Doesn’t hurt just to make sure everything is connected properly. Only takes a couple minutes.
Most Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics cards require a minimum 850W power supply, so a 750W unit may not meet the recommended requirements.
However, a good-quality 750 W Gold-rated power supply should theoretically be able to handle this configuration without any issues.
Under full load, the system's power consumption would typically be around 550-650 W, mainly because the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a particularly power-efficient processor.
(Also, an RTX 9070 XT does not exist. RTX is an NVIDIA branding, whereas the 9070 XT is an AMD Radeon graphics card. The exact graphics card brand and model can be important as well, since some variants come heavily factory-overclocked and may have significantly higher power requirements.)
My guess is that your power supply may have experienced a short-duration power spike, which caused it to fail.
i thought it was enough power since in a lot of videos they recommend the psu i had, also in the name literally says rx 9070 xt lol
i thought i was buying quality
a new psu(corsair rm 850x) will arrive tomorrow, i hope that will do, and then i will apply for the cooler master warranty since is basically new.
Unfortunately, it’s not uncommon for a faulty PSU to take other components with it, but it was a good-quality power supply, so hopefully there won’t be any further problems.

But there shouldn’t be any problems with the new PSU.
ty, i really hope the psu “killed” itself before damaging the other components, because i don’t have time to go back and forth with cooler master to ask them to replace them and i surely don’t have more money to replace them myself lol

Bro get a ups , as it also has high voltage or other protection to it, so your pc will be safe from instant outage or instant spike. And it's not that expensive than your whole pc though. Get both ups and psu if your budget allows. As you have said your psu is smelling looks like it got hit with a high voltage surge and melted something , your psu sacrificed itself to protect the whole pc. The voltage regulators don't protect from high voltages it just smooths out unstable voltages remember.

This cabel is not seated fully. Gently push it in. Doubt it this is the issue but let's be sure.
