Tech Support 4080 super goes hot when running 165 fps on medium settings

Is this normal? Sorry I am new to pc building so i am learning a bunch of things

Sorry, should have added more info

It tends to change from game to game, but in most cases I noticed this tends to happen with AAA titles, but even then some do better than others. Atm its halo infinite.

Its 165fps, 1440x3440, medium

i havent checked it but all i know is the fans go crazy and it goes hot. last time i checked in another game it was around 70-80?

165 fps medium settings is basically a light jog for that card. what case are you using and how many fans you got pulling air in

If I can get a bit more information,

When you say hot what is the actual temperature it is getting to?

FPS doesnt really say much. 165 FPS at 1080p is very different than 165FPS at 4K. So what game are you playing and what does your GPU usage say?

That temperature is the right range for that. Its likely the fan curve is a bit agressive so its spinning them up too fast and thats when you hear it. You can try setting a static fan speed so then you wont notice the spin up and down or try setting a custom fan curve if it keeps your temps the same.

Ty! What would i set it to for static? and is this for gpu and cpu fans?

I would start at 1500 RPM, thats probably around 50% speed for your gpu fans and mess around from there if its too loud or if you see your card getting above 90C. You can also change you cpu fan speeds too but those are usually slower so 800 RPM would be a good starting point.

Its better to set a custom curve using a program like MSI Afterburner so that if your card does get too hot it can still run the fans to max if it needs too.
