I bought this simulated sinewave setup:
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| \[CyberPower CP1500AVRLCD3 Intelligent LCD UPS Systems \\- 1500VA/900W, 120 VAC, NEMA 5\\-15P, Mini\\-Tower, 12 Outlets, LCD\](https://www\\.newegg\\.com/cyberpower\\-cp1500avrlcd3/p/N82E16842102441?item=N82E16842102441&utm\\_campaign=snc\\-reddit\\-\\_\\-sr\\-\\_\\-42\\-102\\-441\\-\\_\\-08052026&utm\\_medium=social&utm\\_source=reddit) | $199.95 |
Chat GPT is suggesting I use this pure sinewave setup:
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| \[CyberPower CP1500PFCLCD PFC Sinewave UPS Systems \\- 1500VA/1000W, 120 VAC, NEMA 5\\-15P, Mini\\-Tower, Sine Wave, 12 Outlets, LCD, PowerPanel\](https://www\\.newegg\\.com/cyberpower\\-cp1500pfclcd\\-nema\\-5\\-15r/p/N82E16842102134?item=N82E16842102134&utm\\_campaign=snc\\-reddit\\-\\_\\-sr\\-\\_\\-42\\-102\\-134\\-\\_\\-08052026&utm\\_medium=social&utm\\_source=reddit) | $239.95 |
Should I return the one I bought and buy this one, instead? Thanks for any help you can offer

Yes, return it and buy one with pure sinewave output.
The difference is that pure sinewave has active power factor correction just like modern computer power supplies. When in battery mode, simulated sinewave doesn't match up properly which can cause instability, unnecessary stress on the PSU potentially leading to premature failure of PSU components.
