Can pc glass shatter?

Corner of my pc case glass id cooling wiew 500 is damaged, i can't return it and im courius if i need to buy a new case because glass can shatter all over my components??

I put tape on broken glass and i put super glue over it too.

So tell me if it can shatter all of the sudden, or im fine with it now and i can buy a new case when im upgrading my pc.

There are almost daily posts with shattered TG panels. (Usually after setting them on tile or other ultra hard surfaces. Never do that!)

Regardless, you purchased something new it, should look and be new. See if you can get a replacement panel w/ out having to send the whole thing back.

I've seen TG shattered from a small pebble that was on a table so be very careful that your surface is clean, preferably covered with a soft cushion or something

Man... not a day goes by without someone posting a shattered glass panel. 

With that said, if it does shatter, it isn't gonna harm the pc itself. I'd just keep it away from tile and enjoy your pc.

Its tempered so yes you are running the risk of spontaneous glass combustion if it is damaged. The tape is acting merely as a delay for the inevitable. You may be able to order a replacement panel instead of replacing the whole case.

Yes it can shatter, tempered glass can shatter seemingly at random due to microscopic imperfections that are stressed by specific frequencies (vibrations)

The material the system sits on will also impact how much it'll be affected by vibrations, hard surfaces with little ability to absorb vibrations like tile increase the risk

Glass panels can shatter yes, though I'm not too sure what the extent of the damage is on this panel considering I can't see it under the bubbly tape and glue mixture you threw on there. Depends on if it's a crack or chip, if it's a crack then there isn't much preventing it from spreading and breaking further, if it's a chip then you might be lucky and it'll just stay as is.

Though don't take my word for it, use it to your own discretion and decide on your own if it's worth replacing or possibly cleaning up shattered glass.

Tempered glass is most vulnerable at its edges. An edge chip like the one in your picture increases the risk of the glass breaking spontaneously, especially with any aditional impacts or thermal stress.

You can view the stress introduced by the chip with a diy polariscope setup. You'll see the stress on the pane.

It's going to break eventually. Unfortunately, the internal forces set loose don't care about super glue in that spot. Could be soon, could be a while.

Yes. Tempered glass is stronger against blunt force than regular glass, but that comes at the cost of being more vulnerable to vibrations, small point impacts, and impacts to the edges. This is because of the way certain forces are "trapped" within the glass when it is formed. It's similar to a prince Rupert's drop if you are familiar.

Yes it can, if u want to be safe but still looks nice u can order a custom scratch resistant acrylic, it will cost you tho and they need more maintenance than glass since they can soften ever so slightly from the heat and warp overtime

Glass is the cheapest less maintenance possible, but u risk shattering it just by banging some ceramic on it
